DJ Equipment

My current turntables are fooked and i would like to purchase a new mixer. I also need to buy a new amp and speakers.

Just wondered if anyone could offer advice on cost for all this gear. I know Technics are a grand each and a decent mixer would probably be about $1500?? would probably get a big discount on the whole lot...?

Is it worth spending this much on turntables or going straight to cd's?

cdj1000 ftw.

die vinyl die

maybe get 1 turntable to play all the old plastic u have accumulated. just think of all the money u will save by spending $2 per tune instead of $20

the more u buy the better the discount usually

hey man, they are less than a grand each, ask the boys at vinyl warning!

jake cdjs are the way dude... i dont own a set myself but soon i will own some...

its pretty hard to find cheap cdj1000 mk3's, and ive heard that the pioneer distributors are gay (billy hydes told me that), so its sometimes difficult to even source them... expects to pay $1600+ for just one

the cdj800's are way cheaper, im trying to settle on which im going to go for.

Cheers dude. Wheres the best place to purchase CDJ800's??

Also recommend a good mixer to go with these? maybe a DJM600/800??

the djm 800 is fkn AWESOME, with all the color fx and stuff.

having said that its super pricey. maybe look at getting the DJM400. its got most of the same bells and wistles the 800 has but no colour fx. i used one of these bad boys in china, and imo its better than the djm600. the fx are heaps cooler, and if u r only mainly using 2 decks at a time u dont need any more than 2ch on it

its the mixer i been looking at.

as for the cdj's the 800's the new version apparantly have the same platter as the 1000's now and it has lots of cool features, and for home use should do more than a good job. i have used 800's at loads of gigs, its pretty much expected when u turn up to a club they have 1000's or 800's behind teh console

what better way to avoid buying tons of shit tunes than sticking with vinyl for $16.95 a pop?

Posted by Jake willo on Mar-27-2007 03:59:

Cheers mate, will bear it in mind about that mixer...noticed its a hell of a lot cheaper. Only problem is, an extra channel would be nice to play vinyls on.

I heard the CDJ800 mk2/3 is the best it as mp3 playback capabilities unlike the mk1?

How much do you reckon i'm looking at for the whole set up?

u got the line/phono switch on each of those tho. so 2 cdjs, and 2 turntables are not a problem to mix between.

I found the best places are billy hydes music and DMC in Richmond, they usually get some pretty good prices on equipment, and you can usually talk them down if you are buying a few things from them!

Your other option is too look on ebay, or the trading post as there is always someone out their that is wanting to get rid of their stuff!!

hope this helps mate

Cheers mate, just had a look at their website. $3,500 for two CDJ800's, DJM 400 and flight cases etc. Not that bad a price. will probably be able to knock them down on that too!!

I always think that e-bay can be a bit dodgy when buying expensive equipment...?
