clubs over charging and ripping people off

I was talking to my friends yesterday, and they were saying that some of the clubs were charging people $300-$500 to get in, which normally it only costs about $30/$50 to enter and some of the folks at the door were asking crazy prices for vip tickets. One guy said it was $4,000 for a VIP table, then someone else said $6,000 for a VIP table, and another guy said $5,000 for a table. Did anyone else experience this?

i guess you're new to the wmc scene, but this is all not surprising for the amount of business that is going on down there during WMC week.

Yeah, Saturday night the guy at the Mansion VIP door was yelling "tree souzund fore taybol" (he's French, you see )... or 3-4 tables for $10,000

The thing is that some of the locals go out just to show off and the more they pay, the better they must feel about their success. You need only to look at their arm candy...

some friends of mine paid $5000 for their table there.

They also knew someone else there who got a table. That dude got up to dance and when he came back P diddy took his table over. I lol'd.

done!

if i had money i wouldnt mind spending it like that, have your own space and most probably next to a porn star or a famous clubowner/dj

but then again you are probably a famous dj or a club owner yourself

PVD 300 dollars was a big rumor. I asked at the door and she said it was 90.

Space is a bunch of douche bags. I got kicked out at 4 am. They wern't letting people down stair so after arguing with the bouncers they booted me. Im glad though bc pvd sucked and I went to pawn shope for G&D who were great.

$5000 for a table? Shit I don't give a fuck who im sitting next to.For that kind of money that table better have some fine ass bitches and a shit load of drugs with my name on it.

Best advise to you will be to hit up the smaller venues, great music not a problem to get in and alot cheaper, not to mention no bouncers busting your balls or walking around with a shit face looking for a reason to kick people out.

highest cover i heard of anyone paying was $150 at FMIF at around 4am. i think they charged the guy that just to see if he'd pay it LOL.

i think generally the biggest parties were charging $80-$100 at the door such as FMIF (most of the night), BBC1 (supposedly), Tiesto, etc.

my friends paid the same cover for S&D ($50) as i paid for presales.

the table pricing was market demand too - we called Mansion to get a table for S&D for a our group before the conference. At first, it was 3 bottles + a small 'music fee' for 8 of us for the VIP area right by the stage. then last tuesday, they changed that to $2,500 for 4 people! we said screw that. when we got there we saw not all tables were taken so we got one in a great spot upstairs. The total was $800 with a big sofa - we had around 10 people in it and 2 bottles - $80 a person (in essence all-you-could-drink) for that worked out great considering drinks were $12/14 each at the bar.

Ryan Tyas was on PVDs list at Space and they told him he wasn't so the guy made him $90 to get past the gate then he had to pay another $80 for his ticket.

"Hey I'm on PVDs list"

"ok you pay double"

was he on PVDs list or PAMDJs list.

Either way he needs to get in contact with whomever to get that issue noted. Beleave me, both will listen

damn, had I actually stayed longer I would have prob. sold my FMIF ticket for more, I let it go for $40 just b/c i was tired and didnt feel like standing around asking people if they wanted it, hahaha

And yes, the BBC1 party was charging $100 at the door after a certain time. Shine for Sander was $20-$25 to get in and towards the end of the night they too started charging $100. That is Insane.

This was definitely Space being greedy/assholes/take your pick. PvD's people were outside actually trying to straighten things out for people on the guest list.

I'd go see Paul outside of Ultra next year ONLY if he boycotts Space.

I guess we're spoiled with the friendly staff at the Arena/Circus complex in Hollywood and most other L.A. venues

I know it's about as bad in Vegas for example

I got my tickets ahead of time and had zero problems.

This clubs charing a load is not a surprise. Heck ever since I could remember I remember people talking about Space charging 100 bucks for tix's for afterhours.. and that was at the Old Space.

Do pre-sales when possible. I didn't pay a cover charge over $60 and I went out all week. Most covers I paid were about $30-40.

Posted by element-y on Mar-29-2007 02:31:

The best is when it says free event online but then at the event they charge. Had that happen alot. Clevelander did that a few times. Also, the Remix Hotel thing tried to get my money and then i was like well what about that free list online... and they go OH OK go right ahead, sorry about that.

did anyone go to the kiss party? I bought VIP tickets and they didn't mean diddly squat, I couldnt even sit down on a couch without getting bitched at. Atleast I got 4 free drinks from the bartender after repeatedly complaining about how my VIP wristband was a complete waste of money

Posted by element-y on Mar-29-2007 04:30:

Yea Kiss was odd. Chakra was an amazing place but 2 floors were closed off entirely. They said they would open it to vip at first and then let everyone else go there but NOPE.
