The Cure have been my favorite band for about 7-8 years and this was my first time seeing them, suffice to say i was ecstatic to finally see them.....great set

Is the set available yet? Can't wait to get it because I know it was recorded.

Must suck for them to hear a TIESTO TIESTO whenever they came back on stage. HAHA, suits them right for being at an electronic fest. Yea yea, say they had electronic elements and what not, big whoop. Point is, they didnt belong, be it a live stage or not. Prodigy is a tad different than the cure. Prodigy works - cure does not.

Yeah I agree.. They played waay too long for my taste. They should have taken the hint when the crowd started yelling for Tiesto

Posted by Scottaculous on Mar-27-2007 14:23:

What a set I'm very sad I missed this. It's practically every song from the Galore collection. I would have died to hear Fascination Street and Just Like Heaven.

As for the crowd cheering for Tiesto over the Cure? nubs

The Cure threw it down. As for Tiesto I wouldn't know, I'm not into commercial trance.

Not a huge fan of Tiesto either, but after 2 hours I had enough of the Cure

The Cure played the timeslot they were given and they did a stellar job. After The Cure we went over and heard Sander and had a blast.

They cut dirtily into Fedde Le Grande's set... poor guy got like 10 minutes out there

Posted by vovka on Mar-27-2007 17:38:

they played over two hours, way ahead of their time slot, i was very upset because i wanted to see fedde since he NEVER comes to the states

I'm a huge Cure fan but I thought most of the crowd definitely grew tired of them. I have seen them 5 times so when they got to "the hits" I went over to Digitalism.
Entire show is up on www.dimeadozen.org

Before they announced The Cure I told my friend that they should have New Order or The Pet Shop Boys play Ultra. I still that that is the direction they need to go if they want to keep doing older bands. The Cure are a huge band but stick with a little more dancy uppity stuff like New Order or Pet Shop Boys.

I got there shortly before 10 pm so i didn't have to listen to The Cure for the whole 2 hours. Here are a few videos i took.

Fantastic videos and pics. Thanks for sharing.

Does anyone have a www.dimeadozen.org account? I need to get a recording of this show.

Oh man, I see they didn't play Charlotte Sometimes. That's a bit of a relief for me since I wasn't there. But I can definitely understand what you mean by saying that they don't fit very well in this type of festival. I couldn't agree more actually. One live band that they should definitely invite to next year's Ultra is "The Faint", they are from Nebraska. If you still have not heard of them, check out some of their stuff from "Blank Wave Arcade", "Danse Macabre", and "Wet From Birth" albums. You'll see what I'm talking about.

The Faint would be awesome!!!
