What is up with CHP these days?

The past couple months if you find yourself on the 55, 405, or any other of CA's lovely jammed freeways, you may see a cop swerving across all lanes holding traffic back? I have seen this at least 3 times and there is no apparent reason for it. No accident, no freeway chase, no ambulence. What are cops doing this for, to slow traffic down is my only guess but that just seems stupid.

When I see them do it, they usually bring traffic to a halt and then get out and pick up debris on the road

Correct.

It's called a traffic break, it could either be something fell in the middle of the road and they have to slow traffic down to get the people ahead clearance to get it out of the way.. or it could be a drill. I doubt it's "The Drill" because that would require a horse dancing to electronic music.

It just means we have shitty people who cannot secure things to their vehicles.

Yeah, and there could have been an accident, a spill all kinds of different scenarios.. They are definitely not doing it, just for the hell of it
