What will the world look like in 2010? (interesting read)

As the world continues to change at a rate that seems to get quicker and quicker each passing second, the question of what changes will occur even within our current lifetime is one that scientists, philosophers and academics alike are beginning to ponder.

In a recent roundtable discussion at The Possibilities of Change Conference that took place in Beirut some key aspects of life were examined.

Transportation
As greenhouse gases continue to reek havoc on the atmosphere causing catostrophic weather anomalies (such as the lessening of the polar bear population) it has become obvious that Fossil Fuel dependant forms of transportation will have to go the way of the dodo.

The suggested alternative, as outlined by the pannel was to remove all fuel tanks and supply each "item of transportation" with a set of wings.
Under this new and improved system of transportation, there will also be financial relief felt by the road repair units in major cities throughout the world, since there will be significantly less potholes due to the ability of vehicles to fly.

Use of preservatives
The use of preservatives will be banned completely.
Because of a push to make all things as current as possible, preservatives will be abolished by all governments. It is significant to not that employees at preservative companies will require severance packages, but it is felt that is a cost that will just be necessary to absorb. If need be fundraisers such as bake sales and cakewalks can be held.

Types of pets commonly found in homes
The days of cats and dogs are over since it is apparent even in the days leading up to the conference on change that people are getting bored with cats and dogs. Young men particularly who are trying to use cute puppies to get dates are being overwhelmed by other young bachelors who have used the same trick, which suddenly makes their trick not so good anymore. Focus will be shifted to the marsupial population because quite simply, pouches beat no pouches.

Use of eyepatches
After it is discovered that many people have secret fantasies about bringing back piracy on the high seas, eye patches will be distributed to citizens of the commonwealth as a method of keeping the urges at bay and prevented widespread damage to the nautical communities of the involved countries.

Ski lifts vs. tow ropes?
Many ski lodges will revert back to solely using tow ropes in an effort to make the skiing/snowboarding experience more of a true "up and down" ride. It was felt that it had become one dimensional and adding the tow ropes back to the experience would revitalize enthusiasm in skiing.

These were just some highlights from the report.

Kangaroo's come with a no rental clause in the agreement with the Canadian Government to allow them to be housepets.
We are SOL.

Which leads me to a question for everyone...

Since Dogs and Cats are out, and you can't rent kangaroos by law, what animals will people start renting out in 2010?

Koalas are a long time coming, what woman can resist a man walking a Koala.

Good, get rid of cats and dogs as pets. They are useless.

Stupid humans. Lets domesticate an entire species of animal, so they cannot survive in the wild by them selves. Wait, while we are at it, lets breed them so they are as pure as possible and develop life long health problems because of that breeding.
