I'm not sure we'll make it to stereobar in time, waiting for a friend of ours to come over and meet us before going. Might just pre-drink here.

But if you're at stereo afterwards, come say hi! I'm short with a ponytail and jeans and a black and silver shirt

The stomach + liver combo I'll be bring to Stereo will be enough to intoxicate any poor patron that even attempts to speak to me. Fuck, some random person I breathe on is gonna get drunk I think.

STEREO!

calisse... now i see this thread after just getting home! i wouldn't have minded some drinks!

Posted by kate on Apr-01-2007 10:03:

Well, that was rather disastrous... Got there at 5ish, place gets shut down at 5:30. $150 for 5 tickets wasted. I'd like to know what exactly was going on. There weren't any fire marshalls or fire trucks, so I don't think it was an over capacity thing.

there was 2 fire marshalls, and a shitload of cops... when they shut everything down, there was cops outside counting the number of people coming out. but this had to be planned in advance because in park berri, there were all those nice little cop minivan neatly parked.

they were overcrowded. one of the security told me the fine is 40$ per head. i dunno if he was saying the truth tho.

kinda suck that a lot of people shelled out a shitload of money to not even enjoy more than 1 hour. Morales was killing it like crazy.

I have heard the cops shut down some clubs in montreal last night aswell due to overcrowding. They also shutted down 1 underground happy hardcore rave... and possibly another underground party.

The cops were hungry for money last night i think.... end of the fiscal quarter... looking for extra money.

Posted by kate on Apr-01-2007 20:19:

Guess I didn't notice them actually counting heads. But yeah, there were about 100 cops there. Pretty damn lame... Would be nice if we could get some kind of free passes for another event if we show our wristbands or something...

You were there then Summerwolf? Yeah I agree, Morales was rocking it Too bad we didn't see you!

Posted by malek on Apr-02-2007 00:01:

well its up to the club to let in the proper number of people, jack up the price and follow the capacity of their permit.

Imagine if a fire or some other shit catches up in, a catastrophy, and we don't want that.

Posted by kate on Apr-02-2007 00:31:

I completely agree. However, since they didn't, we wasted $150, which really sucks.

Posted by Izra on Apr-02-2007 00:36:

I wish they would do that @ the Guvernment !!! Its always way more rammed than Stereo... $40 a person? ouch !

it only takes one person to complain to the fire department.

Posted by magikb on Apr-02-2007 00:46:

I would rather pay $40-$50 a person or more and have it less crowded, but we all know it never works this way in ANY club.
I have yet to see that happen anyhow.

Posted by SummerWolf on Apr-02-2007 00:51:

lol if they actually counted the number of people coming in... that would help too.

they did it for after 8 this morning

and humm was a pain in the ass to get in there...

or maybe they use a counter... i dunno

I feel sorry for Stereo, David and the people who spent there money on last nights event. Imagine the people who had to travel 5+ hrs to your city, hotel cost etc...

I go to Stereo a lot.
I live in Toronto.
And last night, there where about 20 plus friends in town for this event.
The by laws set by the city are always a lot lower than the actual club can hold. The club was nowhere near full. The two lounges still had room. And why the police didn't ask David to open Stereobar or to stop letting people in until it clears would have been a lot better for Public Relations. The police let out all the people at once, not caring for the people, nor for the people who live or travel to Montreal. What a disgrace to the Montreal police. Such a poor handling. Imagine 26 police officers, 9 ambulance staff and 4 fireman marshalls... Is that where your Tax dollars go????? To wasted policing. I heard there was a murder in the area not related to Stereo... but I bet if one of the 26 police where patrolling the streets, the murder wouldn't have happened!!! What a shock... Everyone in Toronto is talking about the situation and I have no respect for police in Montreal. I understand they are trying to avoid a potential fire problem, but there are so many other problems they should be fixing like the crime rate then worry if its a little over the numbers. The police did a HORRIBLE job at moving traffic too. They all stood in a spot by the door and didn't move. Way to police!!! They just looked mad and not happy to be there. I thought of maybe putting a smile on there face with Tim Hortons donuts but it was to far to walk in the cold. Montreal should be embarrassed. What a waste of tax dollars and time and energy, for what? A lesson.

Its not just a lesson, its for the safety of the people inside. Imagine if there were some sort of emergency, and the club was over packed? Good luck exiting the building in time. That could be a disaster. I would rather see some people loose out on a night @ Stereo that see people be in danger if an emergency did happen.

I would consider doing the same, if it wouldn't be bad for my karma

I understand what you're getting at, but at the same time, I've been to nights at Stereo where it's been WAY more full than that. It was obviously something that had been planned in advance, maybe a tip-off from a rival club...??

And yes, the cops did handle it pretty badly, all just standing in front of the door while people stood out in the cold, wondering what would happen. What a waste of taxpayers' money when they could have been out patrolling St-Laurent where the problems really happen. At least we know that in a club full of people on e you definitely won't be having any murders...

If Stereo wasn't as packed as it has been, that doesn't mean it wasn't over capacity saturday night according to the building code. I am an Interior Design student, I've had occupancy loads and safety drilled into my head at school, which is why I am so avid about this . I definitly agree with you, it doesnt seem like the authorities approaced the situation in the best way.

Posted by ImmyJ on Apr-02-2007 13:53:

Yeah, safety first, but I highly doubt that's what the authorities had in mind. Remember: the cops are a capitalistic venture in ruining people's lives and promoting the worst in society to lieutenant. One trip to Beach Club to see all the bruises on off-duty cops' stripper girlfriends is all you need as evidence. Paix.
