Pahty time..
so who has thrown a party before? i'm gonna throw one this summer. i'm guessing over 100 people will be there. gonna have a flyer created for free, so there's money i don't have to spend. free DJ's with the exception of maybe one.
there's going to be a volleyball tournament too because it's going to be on the beach. i want it to be like a summer kick off party.
i need a permit i'm assuming, i'm already looking into that. what about booze (besides kegs)? how much should i spend? my buddy told me to get bacardi to sponsor it and that they sponsor everything.
give me some tips please, i've never thrown a big party like this before, and i'm sort of wishy washy on exactly how big and expensive i want it to be. at first i just wanted to organize a big party for my friends....like a bbq, but then i started thinking, "fuck it, just throw a huge party and see what happens".
thanks for any info
ill be the first to post...
what?
lol
i'm throwing a big beach party...need some tips on throwing parties. like how much do u think i'll need to spend on booze for over 100 people? should i get sponsors? bla bla bla...
was my post confusing?
i first thought this thread subject was panty time.... i say ohhh.. i look and now im upset.
sponsers the way to go, if you can make that happen...
are you charging admission/cover ? if not, make it BYOB.. much easier that way..
just make sure to get stamps/bracelets so u can keep track of whos at your party.. u dont want radom niggaz up in ya joint lurkin..lol
make sure the dj end of things are all covered, sound system etc. very critical. music creates vibes & atmosphere and you dont want any loose ends.
and of course, promotion, but i dont know what kind of party this is exactly and im sure you know how to get the word out cox-style.
word
a tent. seriously. or at least some cover for djs

a buddy of mine messaged me that he could possibly make it happen at skybar which is a really nice bar at a hotel in sobe...it would be more like a pool party.
hmmm...decisions!
also my friend who is going to DJ has some pretty serious equipment so that's all covered. and another friend is creating the flyer for free.
i kinda want to do a beach party w/ a volleyball tournament and a BBQ going on...for like 100+ people...
i think getting a sponsor for the alcohol might be too much because then it becomes like a public event right? i want this to be like MY party with my friends and my friends' friends...
it's my first party, so i want to make sure i can pull it off and not get in over my head

sound regulations in sobe!
im sure there is a slew of permits and licenses you might need
I definitely need help with funding and planning. Thats my first step. Ive already told a few friends about it and they are down to pitch in and help. Maybe the pool party is a better idea since its my first party and it would be easier that way. Not to mention, skybar is a pretty sick spot and a lot of people know about it, so that alone would bring people there.
from the looks of it you might want to check with skybar if they have their own security in case something happens. I'm thinking at the bare minimum one or two people to represent the hotel such that the hotel doesn't turn around on you and say because of the fight that you did not stop blah blah blah you owe us xxxx for insurance purposes etc.
Tek has thrown plenty of parties here in NYC, he should have a bunch of the bases covered. Then again, doing something like this from the start isn't cheap and is a learning experience all together.

Lol this isnt NYC, this will be (for the most part) a party of people I know. They dont just start fights. but I see what you mean about people crashing it or whatever. Honestly, a fight breaking out is the last thing on my mind.
Tae i'm calling u later for advice!
Name of the party
Drink Specials
Admission ? if so, reduced list
Flyer distribution
Security
Sky Bar bar Gaurantee ?
Half tent over the DJ equipment [in case of rain]
Bracelet/Stamps
Lighting [optional]
it wont be perfect so dont expect it and you'll be fine

ummmm....this is gonna cost a shitload of money and unless your a trust fund baby, a party for 100+ people the way u want it is gonna be outta reach unless u charge your friends for coming. Your still gonna need some front money and your gonna have to do it at a club type venue. We through a party at this really cool place called Lumonics in Ft Lauderdale. These guys will work with u and they have a sound system (no DJ mixer or TT's/CD players...just have your DJ;s bring that and plug that into their amps) as well as a bunch of really cool artwork that sets a great vibe. Heres the website and you can schedule to rent the place out for a decent price. We had a bunch of people rolling and getting there drink on w/o any problems. Its in a quiet location so u don't have to worry about it being crashed by random asshats coming by.
Clicky
Im sure drugs will be present but I really dont want this to be like a big crackhead event. I was hoping to get a volleyball tournament going and stuff like that.
I didnt realize I have so many connections until I decided to throw this party. I actually have a lot of people responding to my myspace bulletin offering hookups and advice, so I dont think Im in over my head price-wise. Its not just me paying either, a couple of us are going into this. Well see though.
the more people in on it, the more expectations that need to be considered
