DJ Question
Lets say your name is DJ Whatever (not literally) and you are doing your thing. Then all of a sudden a little birdy comes along and points out that there is another DJ Whatever located in Whereverville but is on the DJ List.... Do you need to change your name? Do they need to change theirs? Do you just pretend you never saw this?
Any help here with legal, and morale issues would be appreciated.. my friend DJ Whatever is heartbroken right now
Your friend shouldn't have the name "DJ" anything. It's fucking lame.

FYI, anyone can get on the DJ List. All you have to do is make an account. Now, if people vote for you it's a different story.
Anyhow, I know several DJ's with the same name as I do. We're all in different cities with different formats. Honestly, it hasn't bothered me one bit.
You might wanna read this thread. We were just talking about this subject.

When you look at myspace and try to pull up Dj Blurr, a bunch of Dj Blurrs come up.
I actually thought to myself that my name was unique, until I googled it too a couple months back.
Along side coming up with a slew of people with the same Dj name as me, I also used my name on some other forums when I was a JDM car part retailer so I come up on alot of Forums.
Im the only Dj Blurr that plays trance for now, which is good, at least I think im the only one..
Im with Woody tho, it doesnt really bother me.
thanks Woody, and Blurr

Yeah, its pretty lame if you can't come up with a dj name at all.

no...its just that my dj name is Justin Eros b/c i ran into the same complication at of the djlist and other dj Eros going by just Eros. I thought it sounded nice by putting my first name in front of it. Makes it Unique.

| Originally posted by Rukes DJs can overlap names all the time. The key is if you get a record deal or start producing/selling...only then it's first come, first serve. All others have to change the name. If everyone is doing it for fun, then there is no problem. Take Hybrid for example, they named themselves that in the mid 90's. Then Linkin Park comes along, and wants to name themselves Hybrid, but they can't since Hybrid took it already, so they have to change thier name to Linkin Park. Same with The Chemical Brothers / Dust Brothers thing. |

For the record, Blowzo, someone's forum name is more often than not not their DJ name.
