Skyfest 2008

I have been procrastinating on this for 4 years, but no more. I want to plan an outdoor festival, 2 days, one night, somewhere here between San Antonio and Austin. If any have been to an Arcadia or Vision Quest event, you know what I'm looking for http://www.visionquest-tokyo.com/vqdev/index.php
I'm after a few DJ's. This might not happen due to of their loyalty. My goal at a minimum is to have GMS, Armin Van Buuren, NOMAD, Shanti, Dino Psars, and a few of my Japanese friends. I have been away for a while and I'm sure there are a lot of obstacles that are going to try to prevent me from doing this. I have my attorney looking into what I need to do this legal. Does anyone have any insight on legal matters that might give problems? I have some people involved in the planning, but are always looking for help. If you have or know of anyone that have some experience in organizing one of these drop me a line, or if you just want to volunteer, drop a line. I want this to be a global event. I won't do this if I can't do it the way I in-vision it. All the way or no way.

may the force be with me

I say contact Shiva Shakhti types and ask how they go about doing their shows. SMT and Area 512 pull some outdoor shows and could use some headliners...best of luck.

Is Skyfest the name you plan to name the event? Just wondering as there is an annual event termed Skyfest that's held in Houston:

Thanx

Thanx for that info. Well I'll have to get back tot the drawing board on that. Kinda sux, I had some designs already, but the name is actually the least of my problems.

The main thing is permits. Just look into venue permits, you need a capacity permit, all sorts of fucking permits. When I used to talk to Noah Ark a lot.... that was pretty much what it boiled down to. And if you miss 1 permit, they can shut you down.

I can speak to my friend Dustin about it, if you are interested. PM ME.

peace

contat for Shiva Shakhti

If anyone has a number for Shiva Shakhti please PM me with the information. The email method seems to be slow. Since skyfest is already taken, I have come up with another, and better name for the event and will be revealed once the event is confirmed. I ahve attemtped to make contact with several DJ's but no response. Any ideas how to get bookings?

YOu could probably still call it skyfest since the event Matty is talking about is a skydiving event (I assume, since he dreams at 13000 ft.).

Just a thought, but you might want to consider more Texas dj's or better known headliners.

dj's

Well.....I speak without knowledge, but I don't think Texas has any top psy Trance DJ's to be a headline. GMS has been all over and is widley known. Those who have seen them know what I speak of. I need to have well known, world-wide DJ's if I am to bring in a decent crowd, especially internationaly. Who the hell wants to come to San Antonio to hear a DJ they have never heard of? Not saying they are no good, but someone will not make a trip for an unknown. FYI, I have booked Toxic from Isreal. I will definetly have some locals spin, but they have to fit in the scheme of things and the price has to be right. Throw some DJ's my way and I'll research them.

Meanwhile, still looking for some logistical help with this.
If they have done an outside event in the past around here, where did they have it?

Are you for real??
This is a very big undertaking for someone to do as a first time event.. but i always make it a point to work with the new promoters..
myname is Dustin.. let me know if you need anything..
i woudln't do this strictly as a psytrance event, not if you have a big budget..
please contact me for further information or for me to answer any of your questions.. i have been involved in several large outdoor shows some of which reached over 18k in attendance..

peace
Dustin

I didn't want him to. I was going to recommend you for the closing set, just to make sure everyone went home.

It is a skydiving event that's a few days long but they tend to have live music. I was booked to play last year.

Good luck with the event, if ya call it Skyfest I don't think anyone from Spaceland will complain

Posted by skylinekiller on Apr-26-2007 10:04:

uh no

Read the above posts. It's not going to be called skyfest and it's definitely not a skydiving event. I'm afraid of hieghts.
