REVIEW: Dubfire @ Dragonfly - April 4th, 07
Got there about midnight ish, the crowd was very rowdy and wild, when Dubfire started out nice and sweet. With some popular song (a lot of silence and pings) played that followed by Say Hello, and The wall. Middle of the night about 2 am the music was crazy and the venue was pumping
Had to leave early for work in the morning, hope all of you guys had fun.
Like always......had a blast at dragonfly!
hollllly shitsssssssssss!!!!
now that was one heck of a party and what a way to kick off a fantastic weekend of such great parties.
Insomnia + Lucky Heather = Total Mindfuck!!! Dubfire seriously delivered a fantastic set in my opinion and i enjoyed every minute of it. The club wasnt too packed tons of room to dance. He played just about 3 hours and had the room going nuts the whole time. The dj who opened for Dubfire was also very good. I want the ID on the last tune he played. That was bananas lolz.
Great meeting ya Fran
and thanks to everyone who made it out last night. You guys are SUPASTARS!!!
cheers

my review may mean nothing ... how ever... i feel the need to explain just how mental this night was... and when i say mental, i mean MENTAL. thank god dubfire has gone solo, because seriously, he comes to impress.
say hello and all the generic tunes were thrown in within the first 5 mins....that was it... then it was just uber choon after uber choon.
I think sling will even tell you 1/2 the shit that was thrown out there he had never heard before... at one point in the middle of the night he had this baleric guitar peice... and all of sudden move dinto this other tune that was so deep and dark you wouldnt know what hit you.... he kept on building you up to take you donw... i really wish they recorded that set... because some of the stuff he pulled(such as the insane mashup of lucky heather and insomnia)will probably never be hear dagain and we were blessed to have experienced them....
seriously those who didnt come missed out... i hope he plays just as well in big room guv tongiht... because honetly you ar ein for a treat....
UNREAL...seriously...dubfire rox my panty-hoes!

what was the song he played right before say hello? It has a series of 'ping' noises, and I think he played the same track three times.

Cant wait for his set tonite, it should be interesting, as long as he brings the goods lol
i find with this guy its always hit or miss..i either totally love what hes doing (when he DOESNT'T take the mainstream approach) or totally hate it and leave for the Drink lol....lets hope.

| Originally posted by jon jon actually I wasn't commenting on the set, I said "shit like this" in reference to the tracks themselves. glad you guys had a good night... (if I hear "say hello" I'm throwing something at the stage) |

i had a great time, I dont know what it is but I always have a damn good time at dragon fly. This was the first time I was there when it wasnt packed, it was nice tho, there was room to dance and u didnt have to push people to get around the place. I actually enjoyed when he played the wall because its a tune everyone seems to be familiar with everyone knew the words so it got the place jumping right off the start.
Best Part of the night: Being in VIP when someone was pouring shots of grey goose in peoples mouths and got bumped and poured a whole shot in someones eye. Felt bad but it was still funny.
Worst Part of the night: Buying a beer with a 20 and being an idiot and walking away. Im sure that happens to a lot of us at some point, o well it doesnt even matter because I had such a good time
I need to seriously start meeting TA's it would be nice to put faces to names.
I'll say it again:
I hate when DJs are afraid to throw in older tracks that might be a bit played out from the past year or two. In their mind, it fits in the set perfect, not so much that they like it that much or have nothing else to play.
Too many people in the scene are so pretentious in this aspect that a lot of DJs aren't bold enough to drop tracks that are more than a couple months old.
I love that fact that Dubfire dropped the acapella of "You Gotta Believe" and "The DJ..." in his GU. The tracks fit perfectly, he knows he's got it, and so does everyone else.
I'll give any DJ mad respect that will drop Feel Alive, Dancin in the Dark, Shined on Me, Westworld (ahem), Flash (ahem ahem), and flip off the idiots who turn up their noses...

Another great night at DragonFly! Can anyone tell me the name of the track he played right after proper education? Thanks!
4 times at Dragonfly and 4 awesome nights...
something about that club just equals party time.
If you don't believe me, just ask the speaker stack that Graham and I were swinging off of.
Dubfire was very impressive, lived up to my expectations in every way.
Ryan is right, Insomnia and Lucky Heather was one of those "what the fuck is going on here" moments.
Can't wait for tonight.
