Monitoring Via Ableton with MOTU ULTRALITE help
Hi guys been a while since i've eva had a prob...
but i recently just finished my lil studio.
got Motu Ultralite, Ableton 6, JP-8080, Event TR8 Monitors, rewire with reason3 and also getting impOSCar VST!
My issue is that (most things are working fine btw) i cant seem to get the Main outs 1/2 to play out through the monitors via ableton.
yet i can listen through the headphones only.
odd thing is that the monitors only give an output through for example windows media player, but not any sequencer like ableton nor reason.
i changed the drivers it worked but then i cant record using them drivers i think. also the manual suggested using the ASIO drivers anyway so i really dont know what to do.
thanx guys!

well i looked over the specs for your sound card... but couldn't find my exact answer.
i have an m-audio firewire 4x10 and the 1/2(mono) Outputs on the back of my box are also the 1/2(stereo) headphones.
meaning if i wanted to cue something seperatly in my headphones i would need the master to go on 3/4(mono).
it sounds like you need to have your monitors on 3/4 and set in ableton your master out: 3/4 and have your cue set to: 1/2
have you tried this yet?
ah i will try now!
thanx
yeah not workin atm, but it has something to do with software somewhere and the phones has to do wit it also.
thanx for the help anthony i will keep nutting it out.
its something simple fo sure, but its all new 2 me.

Set your soundcards software main out's to 1+2 and then set the music software main out's to 1+2
You must set the out's in your music software to out 1+2 in order for the music to be sent to the monitors.
You just need to sort the routeing out in the music software. You said everythign else plays fine apart from the music software you use, well if the outputs are not ticked then it will act like a mute.

I think you'll find that the main outputs on the Ultralite are actually 11/12.
You also need to go into the MOTU setup (Not the Cuemix) software; and you can there assign which outputs the headphones replicates (or can be separately addressed)
*Um, all of the above may be false, I use Cubase and a Ultralite, will try and remember to check later when in the studio and post again.
