Hello! Sasha

He's new to me. I've only heard a couple of his songs and I must say that his style is completely different from what I'm used to.
What are some of his hits that I must check out? Mixes? Etc.
Involver?
Oh and his productions with John Digweed also.

Thanks for the help

Delta Heavy Tour.

Check if you can find any mixes from that tour. Some of his new mixes are nice too.

Productions:
-
Sasha - Ohmna
Sasha & James Holden - Bloodlock
BT & Sasha - Heart Of Imagination
BT - Embracing The Sunshine (Sasha Remix)
Spooky - Little Bullet (Live Version)

Sets:
-
Anything before 2001

Edit:

Btw, this might just be me; but I think Sasha and BT go hand in hand - So if you like Sasha, try productions from BT as well.

Since he's been around for quite a while, he's been exploring some different sounds.
He played a fair amount of house with rapping in it back in the days, as well as acid house and such. Detroit house and techno if I'm not completely wrong. Progressive house in various forms as well.
I don't know, I'm not an expert...

I tried to up the Southfest set from 2005, but I couldn't find an uploading site that didn't have a 300 MB limit... Except for Megashares, but that shit just froze...
You can probably find the set somewhere on this site, though. Otherwise try www.themixingbowl.org or maybe The Pirate Bay? And DC++ always works if you have great hubs!

Check that link for his discography.

I HIGHLY recommend this http://www.discogs.com/release/80624

And anything after 2001, Sasha owns your house.

I have a few acid sets from Sasha from the 80s if you want em

Not really.

You're just wrong.

I think it's more a case of you discovering Sasha post-2003, but whatever.

Posted by Faj27 on Apr-06-2007 19:10:

I personally have always viewed Sasha as a progressive dj...not in the sense that he plays "progressive house" (which he has and still does - but maybe not as much), but because he is always forward thinking, and plays styles from evolving genres (more of a true progressive dj).

His Xpander EP is still mindblowing and if you haven't heard Airdrawndagger then you're probably missing one of his finest productions. Once you listen to it, you'll really understand that not only is he an amazing dj, but his productions are classy, unique and untouchable.

Now now, different strokes people. Mikey doesn't like Sasha's new stuff and Alex does. No one's wrong you twats, this is what separates us from all the hardcore trance fans that say Tyas is better than SVD and vice versa

Personally I'd say nothing touches Sasha from the late 80's into the mid 90's...but that's just me

And you'd be absolutely correct. No one could touch him. He would set trends that were being jumped upon literally a decade later (hello Markus fucking Schulz.) These days though he simply follows them, and it's quite a sad thing to witness given his past.

I've heard you say this a couple of times before....I really don't get it...The stuff he plays now...the tracks...I never heard any other DJ touch that stuff...besides maybe for a few of his tracks...mostly by Diggers.

But what do you mean...he plays the same genre as other DJ's?

Posted by Zild on Apr-06-2007 19:25:

Sasha has always and will always be the man.

Qat. It's all about Qat.

The same bland and uncreative shit as everyone else. But he uses Ableton!!!oneonesixtythree so it must be good.

Edit: This post doesn't apply for this year actually - I've not heard anything from him in the last few months so it wouldn't be fair to comment. Although I still suspect I'm probably right.

Stole the words outta my mouth. He still plays stuff no one else really does. Mikey's comment, yet again, makes no sense.

don't forget gu:009, involver, and northern exposure east coast. +1 on "following the trends" now.. sasha's still the man though.

Thanks a lot guys!
I'm gonna start looking.
Question though, for those who live in the Los Angeles area.
I can always buy the songs online, but I'd love to have the copy of the cd. What are some records stores that carry Sasha? Sometimes FYE doesn't have any electronica.

Posted by Tigo on Apr-06-2007 20:04:

Amoeba, best place for any genre of music.

Virgin Megastore in Hollywood has a rather large selection of dance music. Dance music used to actually have it's own floor but they recently just blended it in with everything else.
