I'm getting my tribal sun soon, most definitly before I take off to Newport Beach Cali for the '07 Billabong Tour Junior Surfing Comp.

Tribal tattoos imo are the cattle brand of the meathead. If you are going to get a tattoo make it something creative and personal. Put some thought into a theme and go from there.


Sharper: I personally think it looks awesome and is a great symbol of your love for trance. All that matters is what you think and that you are happy with it.

Yea, I signed up last year with Swellnet and Surf2Surf International. The only bad thing about all this, of course, is that I am a longboarder. This is a shortboard competition. It's mostly a "let's do it for fun" kinda thing, but many sponsors (RipCurl, Quicksilver, Billabong, Lost, etc...) look for talent on the ocean that week. I'll be in Cali this summer visiting some family so I thought I'd give it a try and see what it's like since I've never actually been in any surf-related comp. The 2007 Billabong Pipeline Masters are also this year in Maui. Can't wait to see that go down on ESPN.

as far a tribal tats go.... ummmm to each his own. I had a tribal piece way back, got it covered up by a H.R. Giger Inspired Quarter Sleeve of the prefect woman..




I am getting my back piece started next week. 24hrs of pain and full color....

some what along the lines such as this:

its going to be another Giger piece as well as my right arm piece that will be a Bio Mechanic Om symbol with bio mechanic tentacles exploding from out from my delt all over up to my neck and just below the elbow. Since I kind of work in a semi professional place, it is nice to be able to cover up with just a simple T-Shirt.

Just make sure you really want a tatt, I guess that's why I waited till I turned 30, you know, just to get all of the little "Oh that is tight" impulses out of me.. Also the investment can add up. The Full Color tat I posted above would run around 6 hundred if not more. It took 12 hrs total. 5 hours for the outline and another 6 or so for the color and shading. THe back piece is going to run me about 1 grand and the Om tat will run about another 5 or 6 hundred.

SO all in all around 2grand give or take..... the Artist is a local inker that is just simply bad ass, has a soft touch but yet on the mark with shading and his free hand. John Zig of Austin.... great guy and even lets me throw on EDM instead of the Cookie Monster Metal music he tatts to.

I was not happy with it and plus the tribal ban that I got with it back in 96 kind of started to go crooked when I started to work out and well, grew those guns to 16.5 inch BABY!! ha ha ha

so I had to work on it. The tryche adds to her breast plate and like I stated, focking John Zig of Austin is the shit. I was going to get just black and gray but he showed me the work he did on paper with the reflection of the light and the shading of the color and just fell in love with it.
He actually cut me a break on the price,,,but I agreed not to tell anyone ..... this past Tattoo convention in Austin I was going to start getting my back piece done in public, but he got sick.......
but next week my back will start to get worked on. Do the outline then wait two weeks to do the fill in. The outline alone will take up to 12 hrs due to all of the detail..... Now that I am able to financially afford them, I do not think I will stop with the back or arms........ next will be my legs and if I can loose this dreaded spare tire around my mid section, the chest.....
