Knotty-Get Into The Groove (Deep House)

hey all so here is a deep house mix i did today, as alot of you might know im not really a house dj, but more trance, so any feedback on beatmatching, track selection and stuff like that would be awesome, as i am still learning how to mix house properly, ive been told to let the mixes run for a while, where as trance is different

youll notice there is a few minor key clashes nothing major, its just i only got about 26 tracks to work with so, i hope i didnt do to bad on this

koo thanks mate, ya this is only my second time ever really playing deep house, im just really getting into it, cause i love going to a martini bar sitting back having a Cosmo and listening to some nice house, so last time i was at the bar i just got really inspired to start playing it, so hopefully soon my tracklist will grow, but my main focus is trance,

Bad ASS mix. I sat here for an hour and seven minutes in pure bliss. This is a genre I HAVE to get into.

Overall an okay set.

It's not the key clashes, but I don't like how you do your transitions in general. It doesn't blend between tracks as well as you could.

Tunes were good, if you are into more chilled out deep house. (I prefer more loungey and more proggy deep house a la Howells or the Timewriter). Def. enjoyed the second half more. (more loungey) This set needs more Timewriter!

Considering that it's your first time spinning deep house (and I know it's different from spinning trance), I think you did well.

thanks mate for the reply, honestly ive never really listened to much deep house, or house in general to really know how to mix it properly, but i think im gonna start getting some sets so i can hear how other djs do the transitions, the first half of the sets the keys were all over the place, and the second part of it im pretty sure the tracks were in Am, i find when you mix in key its alot easier to make a really smooth transition

like how am i supposed to mix house, is it long smooth transitions ? any help on this part would be awesome

It depends on the track obviously. Some transitions are like 1 min, I prefer to do 2 min transitions for most tracks, sometimes 3 mins, esp if I'm spinning prog house.

I personally don't do harmonic mixing or whatever you call it, but I plan my sets more according to the 'feel' of the track so my criticism was not towards what you're doing in terms of keys, but lack of 'layering' I guess.

I felt that you were bringing in too much of next track at once. Maybe reduce the highs and the mids half way and bass all the way to low, get the tracks beat matched and wait for the next mini break to bring in the next track? More 'layering' I guess and less rushing of tracks. Obviously this will improve as you get to know the tracks better.

I find if you can mix trance, then mixing house only takes a little adjustments. It's just some tracks have 1 min intro so I found that was the biggest thing to adjust to. (Well, before getting 1000 mk3s)

hmmmmm thanks again, will give it a shot when i get more tunes, i got a list of stuff i wanna get, might even put some electro in near the end,

listened couple of times this weekend, and it really did the job.
I am loving Sole Unity - So High. Best tune of this mix. I like this lounge style hehe. good work!
