Question about Beatport downloads...
From the looks of it, I might have to reformat my laptop. I have a desktop pc where I can save all my music and such, but I'm running extremely low on HD space on that. If any, I'd rather loose any or all of my already downloaded beatport tracks and retrieve them later (re-download). Is that possible?
I read the FAQ on the site and didnt see anything within that region. Steve I remember I while back you had posted something about how you were able to download some tracks from beatport after a new pc purchse or something like that. Were you able to retrieve those or how did that work?

| Originally posted by djjonas Yep. You can email them with your invoices or just give them your user name. They can repost them to your library if they aren't in there. They are about to change the way they have their DL's to be like djdownload.com, where you can DL it twice. But email them first and see what they say. Another option is to get a cheap external hard drive with a back up and save them to that while you reformat. I had to do that before and I save everything to my external now. |

Just bring a CD/DVD/Flashdrive/ webspace and we'll put it on there for you. Its free so its just an option, since i know you go to UT. |

you could just get one of those external kits from like compusa/bestbuy type deals and slave it to your main home PC and that should at least let you back up your files before you have to reformat it. There are ways to do some formats where you wont lose files but you'll just overwrite the windows installation. You may want to look up repair install or a dirty install. Those might be some solutions but no guarantees. Yea WGA and windows can suck it.
got it back up and running. had my friend take a look at it. thanks for the advice Steve and BoReD
Yeah, just e-mail them. If you can't back them all up.... I work for iTunes and we do the same thing. You get a 1 time exception... beyotch!

yea working at that helpdesk makes me a strong advocate for backing up data. I have to tell around 2 people a day that their computers are dead and there is no way of getting their data back. The files most missed are pictures and music. I have around 500 gigs or so of data I should back up, but im lazy
Maybe i should take my own advice....but at least my hard drives are partitioned to prevent any mishaps with windows.
