Recording GC @ NEC

Right then, as you may or may not know GC at the NEC is gonna be live on the galaxy network. I am gonna make an attempt at recording it straight on to my hard drive, I have about 30gig free. I hope that will be enuff, but we'll see. Never done this knida thing b4, but I suppose now is as good as time as any to start. Gonna attempt to plug my ifi output into to my sound cards wave in, methinx i have the cable to do such a task. I am looking for software that will be able to do this and start at a specific time, maybe convert it to mp3 on the fly as well. Does anybody have any suggestions?

i dunno about the converting to mp3 AND timing recrding features combines into one but i know you can get programs that can do maybe one of them features. but im not sure. i just use windows sound recorder and eat up a tonne of disk space hehe

This is easy, u se cool edit, coz music match used to stop as it used a lot of system resources, but you could try both.

Neo records on the fly to cd-rs might be worth doing, then just burn them back to mp3.

But it is easy, just plug the line in cable from yr hifi or radio to yr sound card

It would be a good idea to burn straight to cd. thing is I wanna record the whole nite, and that wouldn't fit on a 80 minute cd. As I am attending the event I will not be able to switch cd's. Just been on download.com and they have two versions cooledit pro and cooledit 2000. Not sure which one to use. Any suggestions?

PS. Anyone know anything about sound forge? Would that be able to record?

i reccomend getting hold of sum1 on the boards who isnt going and can record it, it will save u a lot of bother (well it may take u ages to d/l, unless they sent u the set on a cd-r i dunno!) and anyway sy r u meetin us in the pub too?

Yeah man I'll be in tha pub, don't have a clue where it is but I'll have a wonder around the station and try and find it, near the holiday inn or something right? We should be in birmingham international about 6:17pm if the trains are running on time. I am allowing plenty of time after missing the first hour of Gk at telewest. I would very much appreciate a digram/map of somekind showing where this pub is, if that is alright??

Posted by Ste on Apr-08-2002 15:28:

only a couple of them lot know where it is. buts its on the nec grounds, called the owl, is next to the holiday inn, and stands out like a sore thumb (apparently) im sure there isnt that many pubs within the nec grounds, hehehehe

mind you there is a map on the nec part of the gatecrasher site. might be worth a look coz it maps the whoel complex...

Download Cool Edit Pro then download the MP3-plug in

Cool Edit Pro can be set to record going by the time on your PC so it should work fine for what you want to do.

I haven't done it before so don't ask me how to use Cool Edit I just know it can be done. - I downloaded Cool Edit Proi a while ago and havent really used it much.

Its a pretty big proggy I think so if youve got 56K get downloading now.

If you get it and can't work out how to use it then PM me and I will try to help

its a pretty good proggy quite hard at first but you do get used to it - I use it to record my vinyl onto MP3 for the GC AG group !( I have worked out how to do a timed recording if anyone needs any help)

It needs a crack I dunno if i stil have it or not!! but I will av a look for it now ( the crack is on kazza anyways! )

only thing I ain't worked out how to change is the bitrate it records at.

ps make sure you dl the MP3 plug in too!

Imm sure all the good sets will be recorded by a mp3 release group and the files will apear on our harddisk's anyway due to the wonder of audiogalaxy if the recording we do ourselves screws up...
