EFX-500 Connection problem
I just got my Efx-500 today but i have no clue how to connect the damn thing.. I spoke to the shop that sells them here but their advice was kinda shit, didn't really help me out..
I have my mixer (djx700) effect's out to my processor's in, and vice versa but i cant hear any of the effects the 500 does...i have my switch on the efx set to master (there's beat, master and something else), also on the back its switched to -10db (as the manual says i should)...
If i put my headphones in the efx itself i can hear the damn thing but all the channels have to have thier "cues" on and effects control all the channel at the same time, (ex. if i use the trans effect, all the channels get cut and back at the same time)..
I have a Vestax PCV275 mixer, but the damn thing needs quarter-inch jacks which i dont have!!
Anyone have a clue how to connect the processor to my mixer properly so that i can effect each channel by itself?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
anyone?
hey Hasneez,
dont expect answers within hours
... but ill try to help
first of all, there's a pretty decent instruction manual enclosed in the efx500 box on how to connect the efx500 to your mixer. there are several to connect, depending if your mixer is suited for effects (using a send/return function), or not ... but reading your story tells me youve read the manual. i think your problem is that you forgot to press the blue 'Effects on' button on the behringer mixer .. but just to be sure, here's my idea on how it should work.
i dont know how a djx700 works, but from the pictures posted on behringer's website, it seems to me the djx700 is kinda the same as my mixer. i have a reloop rmx40 bpm. that mixer has a fx send/return function, which is very easy to have when u want to use an effector like the efx500. i have borrowed an efx500 from a friend, so i have some experience in connecting my mixer to the efx500, and using it. for example, if you want to use the effects on the master, or just on 1 channel.
it basically works like this;
your behringer mixer has a send/return function on the back of the mixer. next to the 3 main outputs, youll find them. only jacks can be used, for as far as i can see. one solution is to take 2 jack cables (both female). plug one cable into the send output of your behringer, and connect the other end of the jack cable to the jack input at the back of the efx500. dont use phono cables, cauz' your behringer mixer doesnt feature them i think. to make the circuit complete, take the other jack cable and connect the return input from the behringer to the output of the efx500.
on the top of your behringer, in the right lower corner, there's the effects column, located next to the master controls.
now, when using your behringer mixer, turn on that effects row, by pressing the blue round button located at the right lower corner. (i think itll start flickering on/off/on/off....). turn on your efx500, wait 5 secs for it to start up, and tweak the in- & output level of the efx500 to the correct amount, together with the level fader on your behringer mixer, which is locate just above the blue round button i just told u about. (just as an example; i have the volume-level faders on my efx500 set to 50% of the volume, and my mixer's efx volume-level fader set to 80%!)
now, select the channel on which the effects should be working. if you need to cue that channel, u can press the cue button which is located just above the LED-counter in the efx-column.
this is just how it works i think. as said before, i never used a djx700, not connected an efx500 to it, but it seems pretty easy &straight forward to me. i hope u understand me.
if you still have any questions, just post them here
sorry for my reply... but i really appreciate the effort you put into this.. i have tried to do what u told me but the blue cue button just cues the effects that the mixer has pre-installed in it.
anyway, i think im just gonna set it up to my vestax for now until i buy a new mixer this summer.. thanks!
