Will Someone Please Enlighten Me? What exactly is....

"happy hardcore trance?" Anyone have any examples or anything? I've googled it and I hear people talk about it but am still a bit unsure. TIA

with sound clips.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_hardcore

Happy hardcore is a form of dance music typified by a very fast tempo (usually around 165-180 BPM), often coupled with male or female vocals, and saccharine lyrics. Its characteristically 4/4 beat "happy" sound distinguishes it from most other forms of breakbeat hardcore, which tend to be "darker". In its original incarnation, it was often characterized by piano riffs, synth stabs and spacey effects. This genre of music is closely related to the typically Dutch genre of Gabber. Happy hardcore evolved from rave music around 19911993, as the original house music-based rave became faster and began to include breakbeats, evolving into breakbeat hardcore

Is this what the happy hardcore scene is all about? Candy kids rolling all day making epuddles in middle of the dance floor? I'mnot being judgemental, just curious :-)

You better believe it. If you are curious to see it first hand I'm sure I can dig up an upcoming rave on Ravelinks for you so you can take it all in with your own eyes.

Let me give you a light show

My roommate used to have the entire Happy 2B Hardcore series. We used to listen to that shit all the time in high school. So funny

That's what all the massive scenes are about too

LOL! I've had pleanty of "glow shows" in my day thanks :-) In fact, I went to see ATB at the Shrine at How Sweet It Is and I got glow sticks in my face all night long. I think we were about the only ones there who weren't balling hard with the glow sticks, vicks vapor rub, and thousands of my new best friends :-) Sound right? Are making it Ferry this weekend? If so, maybe we can catch your glow show there?

The only way I can listen to Happy Hardcore is after partying for 24 hours. Happy Hardcore helps me keep awake

It's very rare to find parties playing Happy Hardcore here in SF but I know there's still plenty of venues in LA that play them.

I still do Massive shows (I'll buy the VIP tickets if they have them) only because they get AvB, ATB, Judge Jules, Christopher Lawrence, PVD, etc. Its well worth it to me :-) Thanks again fpr the info :-) Very helpful!

I was just there last month.

The Garage at Larchmont still play them on Wednesday nights and several house parties like Tony P in San Gabriel play them all day long

Oh I thought you meant somewhere worthwhile.

LOL! I don't do glow shows or light shows of anything of that nature LOL! You don't know me all that well so you didn't get my humor. I am on the opposite end of the spectrum from a raver or a candy kid. I won't be at Ferry on Saturday, I have grown weary of him. Ferry is here every other month and usually has 2 or 3 gigs in that visit. I will be dancing in the dirt to the deep progressive sounds of Tegma instead!

well, that's good to hear! I am not a fan of the glow sticks either but I'm certainly not going to judge them if that's what they want to do. Whatever floats your boat is my fav. motto. I find it quite odd that I have never seen Ferry before especially since he makes it to LA often. But its worth a shot :-)

Have a wonderfull time!! Enjoy your weekend!
