is TATW just promo for Anjuna?
I like TATW heaps, and last year was prob better than ASOT; but it seems like the tracks on TATW are like 60+% Anjuna...
here's a recent TL
1. Evbointh "One Wish" (Anjunabeats - From Volume Five)
2. Above & Beyond pres. Tranquility Base "Oceanic" (Anjunabeats - From Volume Five)
3. Albert Vorne "Formentera What" [Gareth Emery remix] (Club Elite)
Record Of The Week
4. Nitrous Oxide "Amnesia" (Anjunabeats - From Volume Five)
5. Oliver Smith "Tomahawk" (Anjunabeats - From Volume Five)
6. Breakfast "The Sunlight" (Flashover Recordings)
7. Vincent de Moor "Fly Away" [Cosmic Gate Remix] (Cloud 9)
8. Rozza "Discover" [Adam White's Emalodic Remix] (Emalodic)
9. Purple Mood "One Night In Tokyo" [DJ Shah's Savannah Remix] (Anjunadeep - From Volume Five)
Web Vote Winner
10. Unknown Artist "Turnmills" (CDR)
11. Remo-con "Cold Front" [Bart Claessen Remix] (Anjunabeats - From Volume Five)
12. Above & Beyond "Home" [Above & Beyond Club Mix] (Anjunabeats - From Volume Five)
13. Above & Beyond pres. Tranquility Base "Razorfish" [Bart Claessen 2007 Re-work] (Anjunabeats - From Volume Five)
14. Chunk & Twist "Battery Life" (Anjunadeep - From Volume Five)
15. DJ Remy "Scrap" (68 Recordings)
only 4 tracks aren't Anjuna... unless i'm reading it wrong :P
maybe i'm just being a bitch, but shouldn't a weekly radio show, (presumably) promoting trance, not just be a label peddling their wares???
thoughts?
the question is, does it affect your listening experience in any way?
well it's still good, but like i said:
if some n00b (i'll call that n00b myself before someone beats me to it) is listening to TATW, going "so this is what trance is...?" which, since the show's called "trance around the world", and not "trance from A&B's biased standpoint" isn't unreasonable: are these listeners totally missing out on what trance music is? missing the scene, which is what A&B are meant to be/say they're doing?
I'm basically calling A&B promo-whores
it was a special because they released anjuna beats volume 5 (some cd) today
yeah link thing
but IMO they are a bit bias anyway! I still like the listen though!
i guess people can still call me a n00b then, even tho i have already...
shit, guess i should do homework before thread-posting XD
maybe you should!
its just good marketing really
they run a record label, so if the tunes get airplay it will generate more sales.... i think they are entitled to do it to a certain extent
Reading the title of the show would have helped:
Trance Around The World 160 - Volume 5 Special
And that was a fucking awesome show!
haha- true fledz--
i still feel like they play alot of anjuna stuff C/F armin playing armada stuff, but yeah, oh well...
They do but they are a label so you would expect what they sign to be what they like, hence what they play.
And the Anjuna crowd laps it up anyway and votes all the Anjuna tunes to be the weekly winners. To be expected though, it doesn't bother me that much.
I listen to ASOT for the more upfront tunes, even though Armin tends to hold back and play stuff closer to the release date in most cases which is a good thing.

i think it's just lazy if all they do is pimp their own stuff. does nothing for the scene. ASOT still has a bit of variety in the labels, even if the songs sound the same
in j00fs radio show you are lucky to get more than 1 tune by him or on the label. because its a dj's show. dj's play music from all sorts of different people.
