FAO Ian / People into bikes

Finally got it built! After months of fannying around (and the shop sending me parts in the wrong size), it's finally finished. Took a good 3 months to go from frame on its own, to finished bike.

Any other folks got nice bikes that they wish to share a picture of?

Holy crap man, beautiful.

Why didn't you go w/ disk brakes?

I have a Trek 4300.

Mine is a gun metal grey colour though.

That sucks. Was it fully chained up?

Also, on a vaguely related note, approximately 900 thousand dollars worth of bikes are stolen from one of the local universities (QUT) in Brisbane each year. That's pretty fucked.

nice one, plus glad to see usage by the looks of it from the obligatory V8 pedals

@RickM. Nice, I like the colours. Haven't cycled for years. I should take it up again.

Well, Ian, I'll give you a quick on that. Thank you.

reminds me that i should get a bike. won't be a bike like this though. i'd rather go for a granny bike with bad breaks.

No. It was left in an unlocked garage, which in retrospect was a bad idea.

Live and learn, I guess.

The wheels from my old bike were relatively new, so I used them, and they didn't have disk hubs ...hence the rim brakes. Disc brakes will be the next upgrade though, plus new wheels.

That's one on my shortlist, although I want a klein or merlin custom build if I'm honest. Dunno if it's worth getting a full sus or just sticking to what I'm used to, a hardtail

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Apr-19-2007 20:03:

^^depends on what you're riding but in the city there definitely is no need for a full sus for me - hardtail is more then enough imho, the only real problem i haven't sprung for it is money and space cuz i live in a studio apt and i barely have enough space for my stuff let alone a bike.

Posted by Ian on Apr-19-2007 20:06:

well i'm right near some decent forestry stuff but most of the tracks are unrideable for 3-4 months a year at least due to the weather. It's a tough one really
