Should I have offered to help these people?

So I was walking down to the gas station to grab a drink and a snack, when I got there there was this woman, I dunno maybe 30 - 35 or so, sitting out on sidewalk, holding a kid, maybe 9 or 10, both of them, as far as I could tell, crying. I walk in, grab a coke, grab a marsbar because they're only an extra 50c with the coke, while I'm in there paying the chick comes in and just tells the dude at the counter 'just cancels that cab please,' sounding real despondant.

I get back outside and she's sitting back outside, holding the kid again, I pondered walking over and offering help for a moment, but ended up just walking away, mainly cause the chick looked really dodgy and I had no idea what situation they where in. Felt really bad about it though, there where no cars nearby and no people except me and the dude in the gas station, so I can only think whatever situation they where in was probably pretty messed up.

COR version: I didn't help some people who looked like they needed help and am trying to ease my conscience by asking moral advice from strangers on the intraweb. Also got a 50c marsbar.

lol...what does that say about the cor if we can't read two paragraphs?? i read both versions

but anyway, i would have asked her if she was alright...and if you said she looked dodgy, then i would have asked her from a distance.

Offtopic; The kid next to me in English class just told me he sharted and he left class

She didn't look angry dodgy, just meth-whore-single-mum type dodgy. Just didn't want to risk getting caught up in anything, but I felt really bad walking away like that.

with her crying and a kid.... meh too wierd of a situation. i always help a girl in need when its something like changing a tire... done it 2ice randomly....


takes 30 minutes... u do something nice... makes you feel alot better inside.

they always offer to buy beer or something afterwards i politetly say no and walk away

honestly, dont worry about it m8, just the fact that you felt guildty shows a lot of moral, and to think that a lot of people wouldnt even notice the poor woman.
