Random Thought

Why do we still have battleships? If no one has figured out yet, these lumbering, floating, monstrosities, usefulness end shortly after WWII.

Please feel free to post your random thought of the day.

Looks like we've only just recently axed them.

It's ok if they still keep the game

because they're badass

id the majority of the coastlines in the world are still vulnerable to battleship blazing. and those somali rocket launcher rebels going after cruiseships would drop a deuce if one of those shells landed on them from nowhere because we can shoot from beyond the horizon

don't tell me your in the air force.

subs, aircraft carriers, and various other smaller ships still have a role to play. I just find it funny that it took the military all these years to figure out that the age of navel battles is over. The only role cannons have are in movies like Pirates of the Carribean

when you are carrying a bomb, do you really want to land....armed? fuck no!

besides, we have places in the ocean to land. they're called islands.

and air refuelers go back to where they came from after they've finished refueling.

islands

thank god, they don't let you decide on anything in the military but who knows, maybe I'm wrong, and you're some kind of strategy genius the world will come to know about soon, hello ?

Posted by igottaknow on Apr-20-2007 21:30:

they're actually very useful, you can use them to set up a mobile airport off shore a country your going to attack. like in the iraq war when neighboring countries didn't allow us to either use their air space or airports to stage attacks from.
