...so rivera blew a save...so what? He's been falling off for the past few years. It's, what, the 30th game of the season? if that? Seriously, fuck both of them. If ESPN cared any moar about the damn east coast, they'd be covering softball games in Jersey. Seriously, nobody but Yankees & Red Sox fans give a shit about this nonsense. There are a million other rivalries that are just as or nearly as deep-seeded, or which, at the very least, have the same level of interest (see: Packers vs. Bears, Giants vs. Dodgers, Cubs vs. White Sox, Chiefs vs. Raiders, etc.) that don't get anywhere NEAR the amount of coverage that these pointless affairs get. I hope they both lose 100 games and all the fans on both sides take Peter Gammons & Tim Kurkjian with them to some place that will prevent everyone else from ever having to hear from any of them ever again.

and there is a difference between Red Sox Fans and Red Sox Nation....

Red Sox fans are like me, watched them their whole lives, don't get overly excited unless its game 4 of the World Series and you're up six runs, and you know FLUKES are out the window, then you can feel a little good about winning...

Red Sox Nation are the meatheadz who come out of the woodworks, the chicks with PINK red sox attire, the jerks who think Kevin Pukilis is a good player, the tards who buy ridiculous priced seats at SHITWAY PARK.... they're basically braindead morons!

Dodgers v. Giants is indeed a better rivalry than Yankees v. Red Sox simply because it stood the test of time.

1. It's evenly match. They take turns knocking each other out of the playoff hunt.

2. The Red Sox v. Yanks rivalry aside from 1949, 1978, 1986, 1999, 2003-present, has been dormant. Dodgers v. Giants has been constant from the days they were in NY through moving over to California.

Honestly, the media has hyped up this rivalry for more than its really worth. Nonetheless it's the hottest rivalry right now.

I don't blame the fans as much as I do the media, because everyone thinks that the rivalries involving their own favorite teams are the best, but the Sawx & Yankees ilk seem to take it to another level by refusing to even acknowledge any other ones.

um no. move to new england and you'll see what it's really about. after a red sox win, you DON'T wear a yankee hat down the street. the media isn't "hyping it up"...it's the same reason that during a red sox game @ fenway (when they're not playing the yankees) there's still always a 'yankees suck' chant going. i love it

I'm refering of the actual history of the rivalry, not the emotions of red sox nation when it comes toward the yankees.

as an addendum....at yankee stadium the stands are crazier when the Subway Series is going on (Yanks v. Mets) than a Yanks-Red Sox game

hon, i guess you don't know our mr lance "ass" ecnal. while you can have your daily fappings to terry francona, manny, big papi, dice k, "schillings" of cent, and the boys from april to september(note september, not october.......), he is fapping to tom brady(and his 5 "layers" of security) and that oh so fashionable billy bel from september to february(note february, not december).

just a noted addendum, there are many rivalries out there just as, or more, brutal than a sawks-yankees series. the only reason why there is a rivalry is the sawks mistaking trading babe ruth to the yankees for dirt cheap, and on top of that using ruth in the wrong position when he was with the sawks(pitcher).

another noted rivalry of course is the white sox-cubs series. you don't see someone wearing blue in white sox nation, and you also don't see someone wearing black and white in cub nation.

as the previous mentioned, giants vs. dodgers go way back when the dodgers were the brooklyn dodgers and the giants were the new york giants back during the early days. coincidentally, when they moved, giants went to the bay area, and dodgers moved to la.

i am not going to be one sided with the whole boston-new york rivalry, but i just think it is just a regular rivalry just like any other rivalry out there. i can account for 1 rivalry, because i am in the middle of a san antonio-dallas-houston triangle fight right now.

I care a lot about how meathead sox fans ruin OUR perception to the rest of the country/world... I NEVER say I'm a sox fan, because I know a lot of people think sox fans are morons... which they are, but some don't know that...

and to add, all the TARDS who think Fenway is lovely and is just fine, I say fuck them too, that place should have been torn down 10 years ago... time for a new, COMFORTABLE park now... Henry and Co. can make all the additions/changes they want, it will never stop my ass from hurting after 9 IP of bullshit!

that's pretty accurate. Every Red Sox fan who I've met, completely regardless of any other personality traits, has been a complete and utter asshole when anything remotely connected to sports comes up. Speaking of bitching "for the sake of bitching," that's the thing that makes most people dislike them--they constantly whine about the Yankees, and LOVE championing their underdog status, but no one else is allowed to say a single bad thing about the Red Sox or Boston without penalty of some sort of outburst. They'll take every opportunity to complain about how NY has unfair advantages, and they don't deserve what they've got (which is, no matter how biased you are, more than Boston has, since they've won 25 championships to the Sawx one), but you're also supposed to immediately bow down to them as having a better team than any other city does for any other sport.

...that and they're just generally more obnoxious about it all. As I said, the fact that there are more neandarthals in the stands who make people fear for their own safety, should they displease the hoarde is not something to brag about.
