[Review] Ferry Corsten / Jason Jollins @ Pacha 4/20/07
As per usual, what I have to say is fluffy and frivolous. But i don't see a review thread started yet, so here it is.
Jason played Chopperchunk!
Ferry played Beautiful Things!
All in all, not the best show I've seen from either of them, but solid. But does it matter? Those two boys, even on their worst night, wipe the floor with most other big name guys. And they're nicer too. Great night.
I actually met more TA's tonight, didn't think that was possible. Hello to all. Thanks Mikey.
On a different topic: Am I the only one who takes the subway home from these shows? Every time I start out towards the train I feel good about saving money and preserving the environment. Then, after the hour plus it takes me to get from midtown to Harlem, I realize I'm a dipshit.
-M
Review later. but I heart molly.
seriously.
Once he played Coldplay - Fix You (AJW Remix), it was nothing but continuous flow of power. When he goes hard in the set, he stays there for a while :-)
Unbelieveable show.

Some...Jay took a totally kick ass one of Ferry at the end of the night...
Tonight is just one of those nights.......I will remember this one! (and its still going as we speak!)
The beginning of his set was kind of duh, but then after that it was the old uplifting trance we know this man for. Nice seeing the usual suspects out for this one and hope to see you all next week for Mr.Eco and M.I.K.E. @ T. Cheers Everyone
good night - great seeing the usual suspects
was chilling with james/jerz for most of the night...whats up with that smoking hot chick you was with kid....simply beautiful!

jason delivered a good opening set, i preferred last night's set to last month's before armin especially since he played a bunch of tracks toward the end of his track that i really liked.
ferry was ferry and spun a damn good set. never get tired of hearing fire, galaxia, sunhump, or promised land but could do without beautiful. anyhow, glad he ended the night with smack my bitch up
...finally as always good seeing everyone out.
what you all need to do is come down to crudo tonight and sit back and listen to some more music...FOR FREE!

...as for being so fucked up i might have to agree a good number of people were.
Sick night! Got there relatively early, Jason's set was gathering a huge crowd on the floor that was really into the music. The ending of the set was a lot of fun, with lots of extremely hard tracks the likes of which I have never heard Jason play in an opening set.
Ferry got on and the floor was packed so tightly that 'crowd-navigation' was impeded. That's ok, though, I like crowded clubs. As with any Ferry event, I found the crowd to be great. And yeah... everyone was fucked up. I remember watching a guy that looked to be in the hugest K-hole while some other guy vomited right next to my friend. I wouldn't say that I was sober either...
So I found Ferry's first few tracks to be a bit bland. A lot of the tribal and simple stuff that was building off of Jason's prog. didn't really catch my fancy, and it was only after a few tracks had passed that I got into the groove (and what a groove it was!). So after getting through those first few, Ferry started cranking some of the craziest driving basslines that I've ever heard, dropping bomb after bomb on the dancefloor, pleasing Trance Addicts and House Heads alike. I really enjoyed the set, but what really got me was Ferry's skill as a DJ. I haven't seen him spin since his last day at the Crobar Residency, and I simply must have forgotten how good of a DJ he was. Unlike many modern DJs, he didn't just put on a killer track, lean back and headbang for a bit. Instead, Ferry was constantly mixing, altering, and adding effects to his tracks. There was even a point in the night when Ferry removed his headset and mixed a few flawless transitions without its aid. It's after watching a show like that that you realize that Ferry spins on a level above and beyond many other DJs.
Overall, it was a great night. A pleasure talking to all the TAs I ran across (as usual) and of course many thanks to Made Event.

I was def going bonkers when he dropped this, I feel that Ferry dropped a lot of new stuff that i had no idea what it was.
IMO, Jollins set > Ferry set
