Depends what you are into. But in terms of nightclubs, the two largest are 1015 and Ruby Skye so those may be the two places to start with and you should go to each at least once each and then see which one is more for you.
Amoeba for music/records. Such a goldmine for neat stuff there.

REVERB Records.
You definitely want to check out Reverb Records on Haight Street between Shrader and Stanyan. I'm not sure what the exact address is, but here's the phone # (415)221-4142.

You can't say that you went clubbing in San Francisco if you haven't been to "End Up".

and go on a Friday, it's the easiest way to meet single ladies

Mezzanine and Mighty are also great places with some great shows coming up, don't forget about them. DNA Lounge and Anu are also nice.
