Runner Bassline Synthesis

Hey everyone,

I'm sorry if this is like the 1000th bassline thread but I'm trying to create this type of sound. I don't know if it's a synthesis issue or a instrument issue. Well anyways, i've included a sample of what I'm going for. Do you guys know how to make this sound?

Bassline Sample

First half is from Daniel Kandi's - Child and the second part is from Gareth Emery - Between Dreams. I've tried two oscillators that are saws with low cut and high resonance with maybe an oscillator with squares, but I guess it isn't that simple. Is the rhythm two octave or just one?

have you tried eq?

first one is a offbeat subbass i think

about the first sample... the bass pattern is two octaves, like this:

code:
K___K___K___K___ _bBb_bBb_bBb_bBB

K=kick
b=bass lower octave
B=bass higher octave

As far as I can tell about the sub bass, its just offbeat, yea.

The second bassline sounds like a triple off beat and it
definitely has a sidechain on it, thats why it's pumping.

I'll have a go at replicating when home.

I'll be honest, I'm OBSESSED with that same exact kind of bass sound. I never realized how simple the midi was for it but at the same time you need a KILLER bass synth to get sounds like that or you need to know how to layer osc properly and make sure the filter lfo's are slowly opening and closing to get that little sweeping feel to it too.

this song i made today kinda has that kind of bass i think.

i dont usually like it but its good for slow tempo trance..

Does anyone know how to make the sound with maybe v-station or 3xosc?

this bassline could easily be done with AR Bassline.... sound like a single sawtooth waveform with a slightly open filter... but the first sound i think is a FM synthesis... could be done with like z3ta+ or FM7/8..

So I tried to be creative in Bass Station and the best sound I've gotten so far is this:

Bassline Sample

But it seems too dry or plastic and less organic.

I think the software version is of basstation is pretty well known as being crap/not anywhere near the hardware version. I think you'd be better off with vstation or another vst.

A mid-bass with a delay on it often given a rolling effect.

Here is an attempt using FM synthesis. FM Bass

Um, am I missing something? - the two samples sound the exact same.

ears?

Posted by michaelconway on Apr-29-2007 21:14:

the first sample is the standard KxXxKxXXKxXxKxXX
but layers with a sub KxxXKxxXKxxXK

the second sample is K-XxK-XXK-XxK-XX
and the sub on that one is K-x-K-x-K
but its side chained.

first sample sounds like a sqaur saw, second is saw. I dont know I could be wrong.
