IGK makes a Movie Observation

Seems like everybody in the movies today knows martial arts. If your a cop or in the military or a bad guy even if your in the mob or your an urban gangster. If you go to outer space or even if you go into the future to fight against computers your going to need to know karate. If your part of the undead and especially if you're a vampire you better know kung-fu.

Ya you know I noticed that aswell. Even Lindsey Lohan knew Judo and UFC fighting styles in Mean Girls when she pounced on Regina George across the lunch table.

Posted by shaw on Apr-23-2007 14:28:

actually, it's fairly accurate, since they give most people at least some training for any stunts or fighting they're going to do on their own.

By "fat", he probably means non-anorexic.

Oh, Hollywood Life, what have you done to the hotness previously known as Lindsay Lohan's breastesses?!

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on Apr-23-2007 16:50:

yes i noticed they do know kung-fu like actions. it's kind of like "where did you learn how to swing your leg like that?" or use the hand motions the way they do...

it's almost like how almost all movies that are supposed to be in a different country, the people have a british accent for some reason.

I know right? Stupid Hollywood movies living in their fantasy world where law enforcement agents and military people know self defense and hand to hand combat. Laughable at best!!!

You fucking idiot.

Um... I'm trying to think of "hand-to-hand" combat situations in recent military history. Um.. not finding much. I think what you'd find is your average airpower or artillery or firearms battering the crap out of your enemy. Modern military allows to blow the crap out of your enemy without even seeing his distinct facial features.

Now, if you're like "super-trained-special-forces-navy-seal-omg-kick-chuck-norris'-azz" sort of pimp -then ya, I'd expect him to be able to chop-sucky and ninja-punch his way out of any combat without using even a knife. He better use his "registered in all of 50 US states and territories as lethal weapons" hands, and not some pansy firearm!

Well, so did you, sort of. The hand-to-hand combat and self defense you talk about is not the crap you see in the movies. Audiences don't wanna see some pudgy cop wrestling a perp to the ground and macing his face - they wanna see a half-naked Jean Claude Van Damme (he gotta be half naked) give someone a taste of his SWAT boot in mid-flight.

and I think that's what IGK was getting at. Besides, ever see a "real" fight between a cop and perp? I've seen a few. Usually doesn't last very long and I've yet to see a cop raise his foot from the ground. And usually it's when perp is on the ground - to keep his ass down.

I watched "alias" yesterday (and I mean tried to watch) - it was pathetic. First it was cheesy-over-done-seductress-seduces-some-geek-scientist-with-some-secret-stuff-or-technology-seductress-spy-hot-girl-wants-to-steal. Then, it was a crappy fight scene. On a train. In a luggage cart. With a spy-girl-in-question hanging out of the door over the bridge (very "Under Seige 2"-like). I turned it off after that. The fight scene ruined it for me.

anywho. rant over.

Don't give him that much credit
