Midi Controllers

I've been looking around for a sharp looking jog-wheel midi controller for progs like VDJ or Traktor... I haven't found anything half-decent other than the VCI-100 by Vestax!

My original idea was putting something like two vinyl tables together with FS2 and a mixer, all for the feel of that 12" vinyl. Is there a cheaper alternative out there besides some fischer-price toy?

thanks!!

m-audio is coming out with their xponent...price is around 700 from what i remember.

i dont know if its an actual midi controller...but check out the hercules dj console

id go with the vestax or the xponent from m-audio. the xponent looks pretty sick, USB and midi interface with computer, headphone, master and booth outputs, and a built in trackpad.

Anyone using the original X Session from M-Audio (Evolution)? I have the opportunity ot pick one up for about 50 bucks slightly used. Is it worth it? Would it be enough for Torq and Ableton?

Thanks.

I have the original X-Session, for Traktor. I don't know if it would be good for Ableton, maybe not enough knobs/switches, might be OK for Torq. For me it's better than the Pro version, it's small, fits in my laptop DJ bag. 4 years old, some of the controls are occasionally erratic, likely needs some cleaner spray, I hope I can still buy that stuff. Usually just moving the knobs a few times fixes it.

For $50 you can't lose, buy one and try it, if you don't like it sell it for the same price. I got a second one recently for backup.

BTW Numark has a controller too. Also Allen & Heath has Xone:2D and another Midi box coming soon, they are derived from the Midi section of the Xone:3D (expensive). There are actually a lot of controller makers now.

Yeah. I wasn't looking in the 2D's price range unfortunately. I think I'm gonna go for it for the 50 bucks.

Actually, there's some guy selling some UC 33's on eBay right now for 115.00 bucks. I think I might just go for that.

I'm in the process of getting a crappy $20 Mixman DM2 to work with Traktor. It works but I haven't gotten it tweaked properly yet.

Something I was screwing around with for scratching purposes.

Just bit the bullet on a UC 33 for 115.00 shipped. Can't wait to start using this thing.
