Guitar (to plug in computer and not so pricey)?

I need some tips about good + not very expencive guitars that I can plug to my computer...

I am looking more for the elctric/dirty guitar sound...

If your not really in it to play the thing, get a korg pandora and an epiphone. I don't recommend a squier because they use single coil pickups, any guitar with singles will hum like the buggery (esp with distortion) unless you buy a really good one which is really well designed (expect to spend a few grand). Epiphones are better quality and use humbuckers which use phase cancellation to cancel the 50 Hz hum. Even a cheap humbucker will be cleaner than a mid range single setup.

This is rubbish, Squires work fine with distortion. Just because a guitar uses single pickups does not make it shit. The choice between single and humbucker pickups comes down to personal taste. a single coil will give a harsher , sharper sound, while a humbucker will give a warmer feel. also positioning of the pickups is a factor.
Single pickups are no good for distortion? so why then is the Fender Stratocaster the most popular rock guitar of all time ? hmmm.
Epiphones are perhaps slightly better quality than Squires but they are still cack in the guitar world. what you want is to look for the brands Fender or Gibson , not Squire or Epiphone, Epiphone is a cheaper version of Gibson and Squire a cheaper version of Fender.
as for paying a few grand for a guitar?!! not here in the UK, you can get a nice quality Fender strat for about �300 and a Gibson Les Paul for about �500, if your lucky you can pick up a telecaster for about �200. these are all top quality guitars exactly the same as the pro's use. If anyone is trying to charge you 3 grand for a guitar they are ripping you off. Unless 1. Its signed by john lennon/once belonged to john lennon etc or 2. It is a limited edition (will be the same quality just looks diff).

Gawd, OK I'll ignore your confrontational tone and try and be polite:
1/ I did not say that single coils or guitars with single coils are shit. I said that squiers are shit. If you play guitar (and from your tone I hope to hell you do) you would know that a good CHEAP (which was a specific request) guitars with single coils are very very rare.
2/ it is very hard to make a single coil pickup which does not hum. Therefore I suggest a humbucker. This guy doesn't play, he probably doesnt have a preference, he probably does care if his new guitar hums a lot.
3/ I was talking american dollars. I wouldn't buy any fender less than an emerican standard (mexicans are hardly better than squiers) In which case you're looking at over a grand. Which this guy doesnt want to spend!

As I said, I'm not bagging out single coils. I actually prefer them for the stuff I play, but cheap single coils are a no no. And Epiphone BTW is one guitar brand that I have a great deal of faith in. They are in this guys price range and are quite good quality. Please try not to jump down my throat an please learn to do currency conversions. 500 pounds is about 1500 australian dollars so half your whining was without cause.

How do you know this guys price range? I was making the point that in general guitars are so cheap that there really is no need to buy a cheaper model such as your crappy epiphone.
pro's dont all play custom shop jobs or signitures, a pro will play any guitar he can get that he likes, some play custom shop jobs, some play an old battered jaguar they picked up from a car boot sale while gigging to pay them through university. Its all about feel and action.

You will note that clapton plays a custom shop. Have you ever seen him play? Or maybe you think he plays a squier too? You will also note that if people play old beat up jaguars they are almost always american. I assumed you must be talking about mexicans because otherwise, your suggestion is about 3 times as expensive as mine. Sometimes a rockstar will play a standard series. If he/she does it will always be because they have sat down in the fender warehouse for a day and picked out the three best guitars out of 30 or so. Probably the original poster isn't a rockstar, so maybe this won't be a possibility for them?

I know this guys price range because he specified that he wanted cheap and was talking about behringers. Not american strats.
I'm not championing epiphone. I'm championing any decent guitar. Not too many guitars have both the squier and quality stamp on them. These characteristics are usually mutually exclusive.

I also don't play only an epi just FYI, I play an Ibanez, an american fender, a martin, an epiphone, a steinberger and a les paul. Most of which I didn't buy, because no matter what you say, guitars are expensive and most can't afford them, especially if just using them to sample for dance music. Maybe where you live (which seems to be an alternate reality anyway) guitars are much cheaper, that's great. But where I am, guitars are really quite expensive. the RRP on a good guitar can easily reach well over 1,000 GBP unless you know someone, you probably can't get it cheaper. Did it sound to you like uniquu knew a lot of guitar people?

I am totally new with guitars. I don't even know how to play one.

And I like the dirty/electric sounding guitars.
It gives such a boost to the songs.
