Online dating
What's everyones view about online dating?
I've heard some real success and horror stories about online dating. I actually have a couple of friends that have met their partners (wives/husbands) online, which is very cool!
So being a single male (for too long now) I've now checked out these sites called lavalife and plentyoffish. For the most part, it seems kinda funny, and at the same time serious. But I was really surprised about how many people actually join onto these sites. I've always been very skeptical about the whole notion of meeting someone online... but as time has tested it true, it's becoming a very popular and socially acceptable thing to do.
I think it's quite cool that you can read what a person's really about, but can you really take someone's profile at face value? I mean, it's easy for anyone to go on there and say, well, I'm this and that, trying to make themselves sound attractive and amazing. I guess I think that online dating can be more pretentious than actually meeting people in person.
Has anyone been on these sites and had a read around? Or how about some juicy stories you (by that I mean "a friend of yours"
) have encountered.
Welcome to 1992

lol why pay using lavalife.
it seems facebook is the next big thing in toronto (ontario? possibly all of canada?)
anyways, if you poke like 100 girls, one are bound to poke you back lol.
either way, hooking up off the net is not for me. just my preference anyways.
edit: go meet some tota's, they always love meeting people

One couple I know met like that, and by looking at them, wonder why they needed to try that.
On the other hand, this one loser at work, where we KNOW there's NO WAY he'd ever be able to hook up with anyone on his own, did find someone on lavalife equally horrid as he.

Met the first girl I ever dated (period) online on msn chat funnily enough (in 2nd year university). As for dating anyone else from online, hasn't happened after the first.
Wow Kelly. Your bf must be one helluva guy if he can get past your bitterness on men in general.
So happy for you!
Why use LavaLife when you can use TranceAddict! Hahaha j/k Though I did meet Cale through here.

I didn't think anybody used Lavalife for actual dating. One of my buddies in university used it for booty calls whenever he went to Toronto for the weekend. There's some really, really weird stuff on there - once some married couple sent him an invitation for a threesome (this would have been two guys... ick). That was not by any means the weirdest, but it's all I'm going to post here. Some of his stories still give me nightmares.
He had no trouble meeting girls in person either, he just got lazy sometimes, and obviously it's not that easy to meet girls in Toronto when you live in Kingston.
just lazy.. lolol awesome
Yeah I dunno personally I am still skeptical, I dunno just meeting someone online before you meet them in person seems a lil weird too me, plus I'm a F*ucking Ogre, but it did work for Kelly and Peter is the one of the coolest guys i have ever met.... so I dunno if Im single for more then 2 years I will resort to lavalife or something I guess :P

It's hard to meet women here period never mind your friend just being lazy. Plus for me at least it doesn't help w the shy part.
