Wavehouse Pacific Beach is hosting "Sundaze" on Sunday afternoons + all summer

http://www.eventvibe.com/shop/product.asp?pid=1359

This may be interesting. How many places on the west coast can you host events like this so close to the water where you can be in your bathing suit? It will be interesting to see which talent they can coax in. They should be able to bring in some decent names since the Sunday dj demand is non existant.

Sooooo glad summer is almost here!

Umm... so Donald is the only one playing there? I don't understand... I may be a bit slow at the moment though...

Posted by CND on Apr-27-2007 05:00:

That is just the first show.

Since it is "Eventvibe" I am sure they will bring in there rotation of DJ's.

But they host a ton of shows year round and have access a lot of talent. For example they host Ferry & Tiesto every year.

My point is there are not a lot of decent sized Sunday shows anywhere so if for example somebody headlines Vanguard on a Saturday night why not play here in a Sunday afternoon/evening right on the beach in PB?

Look, it could be real douche but it has potential to be a blast also.

Anyway what is wrong with being in boardshort, flip flops, with the sun on your skin, the sea in your lungs and a beer in your hand listening to great music?

Nothing at all.

I've always wondered why LA doesnt have good beach parties. Doesnt make any sense.

Posted by PizdusInc on Apr-27-2007 05:09:

Well, it's because everyone wants to rest on Sunday after partying Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. How many people want to go out (in LA) on Sunday and party and then get up for work on Monday morning? Let's be realistic... this is a work-a-holic city and it sucks!! I wish things in LA were like they are in Amsterdam... people are so much more laid back and relaxed.

True, but ever been down on the boardwalk on Sunday afternoon in the summer? Or for that matter most beaches in San Diego on Sundays?

Packed.

Remember most clubs here close @ 2:00am so a 4:00pm to 10:00pm or so Sunday slot is not unrealistic.

The key is this club can host the crowd outside and the location right next to the Pacific Ocean.

Don't doubt the meathead population may be present but if the club promotes/handles it properly the sky is the limit.

Can you imagine seeing Howells or somebody similar in that atmosphere?

Yeah, you do have a point there, but how many of those people there are actually into trance? There is a mass of people there, but majority of them will probably not get into the music.

Now don't get me wrong, I am all about putting on great events... TranceElements (which I am a part of) is trying to put on some HUGE events in the US... and if we can get them packed it will be great!!

Maybe not trance, but some daytime house parties would go over real well.

Posted by PizdusInc on Apr-27-2007 06:29:

Well, what dj's do you have in mind that would do well and draw a big crowd, but at the same time don't cost you an arm and a leg?

Putting on house parties would not be very hard to do because of the huge fan base and artists involved, but putting on a great trance event on a Sunday is much more difficult to do. Especially in the US.

house is a more chillout type music. thats why you can have house music parties in the middle of the day. trance is more of a balls to the wall music.

Exactly, thats why it may work on a Sunday afternoon in the sun.

It can work. It has been done and I've seen it work. Specially during the summer. If promoted well, you don't even need a big headliner ever week. Remember a couple years back there was boat parties all the time during the summer? Than there was those meatless "BBQ's" at the museum and in Hollywood. Than we also had those gatherings at the parks and who can forget about Sunday Sessions at Dragon. That was beach front and it was PACKED!!!

Ha! I still remember going to Dragon, buying Coldstone across the street, than chilling at the beach listening to the day concerts. Than going back into dragon and eat cheap but fucken amazing chicken wings and tap beer while listening to some DJ's spin awesome house music! hahahaha

My point is, tons of people went to these events and IMO sunday beach parties are just the perfect place to unwind and relax.

Well, theres chill music in trance and balls to the wall in house/prog. Just theres alot of great daytimeish house (Luke Fair, Howells in the day, etc) that goes great for a beach party.

Luke Fair at a beach party is pretty much the best place you can see him, ever.

I'm looking forward to this for sure. Wavehouse is a cool venue, I've seen Ziggy Marley, and the Adam Corolla show there and those were some great parties. Plus they have some good ass BBQ!

I was about to mention that Luke Fair Balance 11! Listened to some of it yesterday and... I believe it was John Digweed that said Balance 11 is one of the best CDs!

I'm getting it for sure!

Wow.. this sounds awesome. This place is right at Belmont Park in Mission Bay. Tons of people hang out there on the weekends. I definitely want to make it down for this. Glad the OC isn't too far from SD
