how many of you...

actually stop and think about what life is like?

we only live once...that's so weird...and how people strive SO MUCH for...what? we experience emotion, we strive for...what? i look at all of the people that take life so seriously and try to make so much money...but FOR WHAT? earth is a continuous cycle...you live, you die, more people live, and more people die. who knows what happens after you die...but you mind as well make your life the best it can be. because when you're dying, you better be happy with the things you have done. because it's gonna suck ass if you have regrets.

so i don't really know what the point of this thread is...but if someone reading this, STOPS and THINKS for one second and realizes that they're not going to live forever...so they should do what they really want to do...RIGHT NOW
...then that would be cool.

I do whatever I feel is right atm too. It's an awesome way to live. Of course there's way too many consequences to deal with when the shit hits the fan

yeah but once shit does hit the fan, you can look back and chuckle...and that's definitely worth it in the first place.

I watched "Waking Life" three times this week, so this thread is kind of creepy.

Conscience*

If you can't take someone challenging, or just insulting your beliefs you should leave the internet.

Or maybe think about getting some beliefs you can actually back up. I.E. not based on a work of fiction.

live an empiracle lifestyle...believe only what you've seen for your own eyes. i was baptised catholic and grew up that way...but you know what? you really can only trust what you've experienced yourself.

A friend of mine and I were talking about this on Wednesday night. His cousin/a friend of mine was murdered by his own father... shot to the head.

He was putting on his shoes to go out to the barn, and from behind, he was shot and killed instantly.

We started talking about it, which turned into a discussion about how at any moment, we could die.

I have known 3 people who have had sudden deaths. That one (he was 19,) another one where a friend of mine fell off his skateboard at a high speed and died from head injuries (16,) and another friend who died only last year from a brain aneurysm (20).

Each time it gives me a huge reminder of how even if we were to live to an old age, our lives are very short in the grand scheme of things, and who knows when you can/will go. It can be a scary thing to accept, but it's true nonetheless.

It can be VERY hard however, to implement this reality into your daily behaviours and actions. When I get pissed off, I am not thinking "I shouldn't be pissed off because I could die any minute and I should savour each breath I have"... instead I am thinking "I am so fucking pissed off right now".

In an overall view of life though, I think that people should pursue happiness. Like you said, you only have one opportunity to live your life... so why not spend that one life you have doing whatever it is that you want to do... doing whatever it is that makes you happy, and makes you feel fulfilled? If being rich truly makes you happy... all the power to you, but if you are only trying to be rich because you think that is what you should strive for, IMO you're on the wrong path.

I don't think anyone of us would want to be on our death table looking back on our lives and regretting what we did. That being said, I am willing to bet there are a lot of people who will... and the only person who can change the path of their lives so that this wont happen, is themself.

Interesting topic.. a little morbid, and a little complicated, but interesting either way.

I'm willing to believe certain perspectives or things that other people who I trust say. But usually only as a perspective not as fact.
