How heavily do you rely on TA for events information?

I rely on it completely. So much so that I just got an email from NOW TORONTO with events for the next week and almost fell off my chair when I saw that

AMON TOBIN

is here at the Opera House tonight.

I have other plans so I can't attend but I rely so much on TAs event listings that I don't look anywhere else.

Do you rely solely on TA? Did anyone else know about this gig and just not share it? I'm curious as to know what you guys constitute as event-forum-worthy events and who decides to post them.

I do too

plus Facebook events, there are some that are posted way in advance, whereas TA events forum has them a month ahead

I think I am starting to rely too much on them because on any given weekend the only events I know about are what's on TA. I also figure it should be common knowledge to everyone about certain events like Ferry Corsten coming to town in June.

*Note to self: expand my horizons beyond TA again*

Facebook events are a pretty cool thing
Like I'm already on reduced list for Sander K on June 15th

Events are usually only allowed to be posted 6-7 weeks prior to happening - the reason for this is two-fold: (1) to keep discussion/hype focused on events happening in the next few weeks (2) to deter from opportunists/spammers seeking to be the first to post events that are either unconfirmed or only rumoured to occur.

It's getting busier in there, though.

Completely and only TA. If I'm bored Friday night, I check TA events forum for what's going on in Toronto that night, and I am blissfully unaware of anything else.

congrats on numbers...

time and time again you make it clear that you know what the fuck you're doing. amazing, and well thank you.

I wouldent say i rely heavily on TA for events. I'll check a few other event sites every few weeks incase something isnt posted on TA until the last minute, which seems to happen fairly often. Overall however i do check the events far more frequently on TA, but i havent missed anything completly yet.

Swamper, I think some of us would love to see more traffic numbers for TA.

i only started going to the events on TA a couple months ago so there are a lot of places and smaller venues i havent checked out yet. so, unless someone i know finds out about an unlisted event id try to plan everything based on what is here.

Posted by The Highroller on Apr-27-2007 15:35:

I check both TA and Tribe.

Alexa isn't the most accurate, but it's better than no data at all.

Need Input.

My EDM life pretty much revolves around TA...

TOTA needs more house parties though!

I only use TA to touch myself inappropriately to the all the pictures the ladies post. Ladies

However, it is a good barometer to use to compare to other non-flash based sites -- lots of places lie through their teeth regarding their traffic and try to hide things (like showing you how many users are online).

TA receives about 600,000 visitors a month... not to be confused with hits - which is a useless metric, 1.8 million hits a day just sounds good.

TOTA is the busiest local forum. (woo!)

That doesn't make very much sense.

Posted by Turntabulls on Apr-27-2007 17:33:

as a promoter, i find that the TOTA event forum gets the best response out of any forum/event pages we post our parties on. we appreciate the free support Swamper

facebook is also a promoters dream when it comes to listing events/groups.

And full of some of the nicest people I have encountered on forums too! Not that I am active on anything else but I have come across a few in my time that were full of people hiding behind identities.
