FAO... All New Dj's Looking For Advice... READ THIS..
I came across this on another board. I thought it was really good read for all up and coming Dj's.

If you're cut mixing between funk tracks, then yeah, pretty much any setup will work.
You cant mix a guestmix on transitions on that. You can try. It might sound okay. It wont sound good.

Good article - great clubs don't make a great golfer. Talent, practice, dedication, and passion do - same with music. I agree with what he's saying here... great people have done great work with sub-par equipment on pure talent alone.
Equipment though, certainly helps. Hard to cut a great track with poor software, poor sound banks, and a poor controller.
Great talent + great equipment = my goal.
well said, but im still not gona buy belt driven turntables as my first set up.
Being that its skratchworx they are a little less worried about 20 minute epic transitions from one minimal track to another.
With that in mind, his point is valid: Get you're hands on what you can.
I think you could add to that: If you're close to being able to buy something decent wait just a bit longer.
DJing, as it has been said at least a billion times on this board as well as others, is track selection in conjunction with crowd reading. If the people are happy with you whistling dixy into the mic all night over an album from the Police, then thats what you should do.

^True, but for an example of buying Gemini or American Audio cd decks vs waiting to save up for some cdj 200s, or even dns 1000s, it's worth it to wait.
