Rooney are dreadful, as are The Editors. I can't judge on most of the rest of the stuff mentioned because I've not heard enough. Arcade Fire are going to be the next Radiohead i reckon,Kings Of Convenience aren't bad.

Check out Biffy Clyro, Jarvis Cocker or Pulp, UP by R.E.M, Television, Franz Ferdinand's first self titled album, The Afghan Whigs (Unbreakable, their retrospective album is a good place to start).

The Smiths are the greatest Indie band of all time, so any of their albums are perfect.
