I tried out a Yaris a few weeks ago and I absolutely hated it. The matrix we have is far superior for handling, highway driving etc... I found the Yaris on the highway very unstable, especially with big trucks passing by. I was thinking of getting a Yaris, but not anymore. Toyota does make a solid car though.

So how many of you guys actually got Toyotas? lol
Posted by DigitalMP on May-03-2007 17:48:
Is it purely coincidence that they named one of the guys "Gino"?
Way to try and hit focus groups! Now if only the other guy was Asian...

Matrix is def in a different class than the Yaris.
Matrix > Corolla > Yaris (roughly) for Toyotas classes
The long wheel base of the Matrix will def greatley improve the feel of the Matrix's handling and driving, vs. the very very short length of the Yaris. I love the pep of my Yaris though, feels like I'm driving a go-cart... love that myself
With trucks passing by or strong cross winds, yah, the Yaris gets bumped around... it has a tall stance, and doesnt weigh much (as its a car going for great gas mileage). You get used to that though and it soon becomes an issue (if one decides to go w/ one). I come from driving Plymoth Grand Voyagers (long minivans) and Jeep Grand Chereokees all my life, so I know what its like to have driven bigger, better, more expensive vehicles.
Go with a Corolla if you want the same price range and fuel efficiency w/ less of these things that you mentioned... but the Corollas looks are more bland of course.
i dunno about reliability, the new 07 sentra from nissan is pretty good looking (compared to in the past)... worth a test drive too maybe.
not a fan of the nissan versa's styling.. more hatch space though.
the new civics are nice... but we're tlaking a whle new price point though w/ them. they wont be had for under 20 anymore. mid 20s is more average now w/ the redesigned civics

Speaking of Sentras.. anyone see the new Sentra SE-R commercial? God that car looks terrible.
