Office 2007

Is a hassle to use. I'm trying to change the font in Word 2007, and there isnt even a toolbar for me to do so? I can't find how to make a toolbar to show up either, unless I highlight text. Any ideas?

View>toolbar ?

Posted by Sunsnail on May-06-2007 15:47:

I found I can change it in Home, but that's stupid I have to go through all that to change font...

Posted by Orbax on May-06-2007 16:01:

ive found it to be pretty intuitive

I've found the program to be incredibly fucking gay. WTF was wrong with the original application that had everything you needed already on the display? I fucking hate Microsoft now; they're trying to make everything visually pleasing while making their products even shittier.

select the text, then format> font ?

I just got a laptop with Vista, and I already want to go back to Office 2003. That version still works just fine.

Posted by Sunsnail on May-06-2007 16:55:

I do prefer calibri though!

It is really intuitive, also when you select some text there's a nifty little toolbar with the most common format options

Posted by ill0gical0ne on May-06-2007 17:09:

There's also a nifty thing, that totally worked in the 2003 version, called a tool bar. I guess it's more important to have flashy nonsense boxes pop up to format stuff now?

meh.

I use openoffice

Posted by Silky Johnson on May-06-2007 17:20:

Uh, view > toolbar ???

Is that not an option?? I still use old software, so fill me in.

Posted by Sunsnail on May-06-2007 17:21:

Nope, they no longer have toolbars.

Posted by Silky Johnson on May-06-2007 17:22:

That's fucking gayassfag styles.

I usually like to keep up with the times, but I just can't accept this bollocks. It's fucking awful. And because of this our office will be sticking with 2003 for the time being - What daddy says goes.

if there was only some place they had a text editing section...god that would be handy

Posted by Krypton on May-06-2007 20:04:

I installed office 2003 from my old computer to my new one. But for some reason I can't uninstall office 2007.

It's a shame they didn't think of adding that, even easier would be some kind of context sensitive menu that opens when you highlight text, but I guess that would also be too difficult to implement.

Posted by mastersj on May-06-2007 20:34:

^ that's exactly what i was talking about

I still use Office 2000. Works perfect.

I like office 2007. Aside from the slight learning curve of learning new software, I enjoy the fact that it's more visually pleasing. Everythings arranged in tabs and once you get the layout, it's easy to use.

i'm often confused by the new office 2007 interface. if i look long enough i can find what i need, just hate relearning something i already knew.

That's the thing that annoys me... If you notice frome every version of Photoshop, you can jump around versions, and still know what you're doing. However, now with Office, you can't.

i used office 2007 for a second. overall i loved it but i needed space so i took it off. for the ones that are hating on it (mostly illogical and sunsnail) stop bitching.

they made the interface to be task oriented. that way as mentioned earlier if you highlight text the formatting bar just appears etc. this is smarter as it makes you more productive. yes i do agree its hard to relearn and find things. figure out how to add a text box. that took me 15mins the first time!

jenny: they changed it all around. they have this thing called the ribbon now. its very dynamic. it changes with the task you are doing. ribbons are added or removed as the task changes. its very intuitive. critics reviewing this were saying "finally something they have been doing on macs for years!" its VERY different so takes LOTS of getting used to, but it is a very good interface.
