Facebook Music To Be Announced This Month
Since Facebook threads are all the rage these days...

According to my closely connected sources, Facebook will be announcing an online music service May 21st. I had thought of utilizing Facebooks API to add a music feature but that wont be necessary. Facebook is also lining up various undisclosed partners prior to their launch. Im amazed that it took them this long, but this will be huge. Myspace music has already been a huge success launching bands such as the Arctic Monkeys into stardom. Now with the growing popularity of Facebook and the college heavy demographics of the site, this could prove to be a massive entry into the music market. Also, given Facebooks tendency to perfect each of the features on their site (their photo sharing service has become one of the biggest on the net) this will most likely be a pretty slick feature. I havent been able to get a Facebook representative to comment on this, but maybe Mike Arrington can do a little digging and give us the full scoop. After doing a little Google Trends research Ive come up with a pretty interesting graph. It looks like now would be a great time for Facebook to release a music product given the popularity of the search phrase facebook music. To be honest, Im amazed that it has taken Facebook this long to launch a MySpace music competitor, but when it does launch Im sure it will be a killer web app. Im still waiting on a more connected blogger or journalist to give us more details. More to come!

Originally posted by Turntabulls then just delete that promoter off your list.. facebook has great security to prevent massive spamming, plus it doesn't allow you to use coding. maybe event invites will increase.. but definately not advertising and spamming.

Originally posted by geroin that doesnt do shit, people can still access your facebook and see things, im not gonna set a limited profile for every single person out there...honestly, when people tell me about "privacy" settings on facebook it pises me off because privacy on facebook does not exist
I don't think this question gets asked enough,
WHY ARE YOU ON FACEBOOK IF YOU WANT PRIVACY FROM YOUR FRIENDS?
Delete your account and move on - insta-privacy. Fuck.
Online social sites are becoming a joke, simply because of too many people nosing around or spying on others with cops, government officials constantly snooping around on Facebook and MySpace.
There isn't even any free speech anymore ... all I hear everyday is about some kids getting suspended because they said something bad about their teacher on Facebook.
If you set your profile so only friends, or friends of friends, can view it then you don't need to worry so much about the Gov't or employers being able to see your info.
The only thing I think is annoying about Facebook is if you get an invite and neither accept or reject and just leave it sitting there, all the group/event messages get sent to you any way. It should only send you the messages once you officially join/rsvp.
and btw, you can already post vids/pics etc from outside sources directly into your profile from sites that Facebook accepts. You can copy the bookmark-let from the info page about the feature into your bookmarks toolbar, and then whenever you are viewing a vid from YouTube for example, you can click it and embed it into your profile that way. I bet this new feature will be about the same, unlike the annoying MySpace 'blast my favorite bands track whenever you click my profile' way of handling it.
I would think all the 'producers' on this board would be excited to be able to upload their tracks for their friends to check out.
