Mixer&Equipment
so i'm a noob! I got the mackie 1402 VLZ mixer, and a professional mic., a pair of speakers, and a computer. What else do i need to start dj-ing. And i was wondering, what is the mixer's purpose in dj-ing?
wow you're in a rush im not even sure you can call yourself a dj yet, but still...dj ameno, not even a little humbble..geeez.

Please use the search function on TA for most of your questions, as they have been asked and answered plenty of times in the past. Also, take a look at the stickied thread up top, which I've also linked to below.

how about next time...nobody answers these posts???
that way, the noobies will have no other option than to figure it out themselves
i am sry for a post like this, but for u pros this is really funny, but that are real questions that are bothering me. and i used the search function, and the link that u posted, and there are no things for noob's, i am lost in so many expressions and stuff. i was asking bout mixer's purpose because my father is a movie editor, and he brought me the mixer. But he explained me why is mixer used in editing. He said he uses the channels for different hardware. eg. one is for the mic, one is for the camera, one is for the betacam and so on.. but as i know it, mixer in dj-ing is used softwarely, and that's why i'm asking what more of equipment do i need, if i do need any. sry again

That site overall is great for beginners imo.
This book will be a huge help to you. It lays out all of the basics, and its been an invaluable resource for me ever since I bought my copy.
Of course I'm sure Recess' book is also very good(and he posts here
).
