Posted by Orbax on May-10-2007 02:49:

that genre holds no appeal to me

Tip of the hat. I'm stoked, but my main concern is that this movie will go the way of The Fast and The Furious. The first one was underground and indie-ish and the 2nd one blew goats when it got a bigger budget. Dear 28 Weeks Later...please don't suck. Thanks in advance.

Boyle isn't directing :/.
He is working (finishing, post-production, i dunno) on Sunshine, which looks like (on paper) a complete rip-off of The Core, except the script is filled with a ton of dialogue on philosophy and commentary on eco-awareness / mother earthhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunshine_(2007_film)

Its not technically a zombie movie. And it will be awesome. I'm excited.
Definite tip of the hat.

Definitely see the first one. It probably isn't necessary in order to understand this one, but if you are a horror fan (and i do believe you have said you are) then it is a must see. Though i will warn you, if you are zombiephile you will either love it or hate it.

how is this a stupid movie? and what do you consider to be a good movie?

Posted by SuspicionVandit on May-10-2007 06:33:

well i can understand Josh criticizing the movie for:

1. it's a horror movie that is about 999999 years after the golden era
2. It's a horror sequel
3. the budget makes it seem as a mainstream movie, aka, Godzilla with Jean Reno

aaaaaand not to mention "Fox Atomic Presents..."

But i'm a fan of Boyle and the whole "it's not a zombie" shtick.

Unlike Cell, which is based on Stephen King's novel about people just GOING CRAZY (no reason is ever given), although it's ambiguously linked to a /spoilersecret frequency given out over wireless telecommunications either by the government or a hacker, which is directed by OMGMGGGGGG ELLLIIIII ROTTHHHH THE BRRIILLANT MINDD THAT BROUGHT YOU HOSTEL AND CABBBINNN FEVERRR

yeah well i'm not too worried about "going the way of fast and the furious" because the first one sucked donkey balls and i don't think i've seen the other 2 (or 3 or 4 i don't know)
whereas the first 28 days later was fucking awsome

umm well then i guess i'm ashamed of myself. but i'm happy i'm not an uptight prententious movie critic with too much popcorn stuffed up my ass and so obsessed with "good artful" movies to know how to enjoy silly movies while at the same time also enjoying great cinematic pictures.

Posted by Rinster on May-10-2007 15:15:

didnt like the part in the first one where the bloody dripped on his eye lol what do you mean fake?

Hope that was sarcasm. Eli Roth is probably one of the worse directors ever. His movies are ass and not even scary or let alone good. He uses mass gore to substitute for his lack of directing skills to try to scare people but fails in doing so. 28 days later was an extrememly good movie. As said it had a very undground raw feel to it, along with wonderful cinematography. This sequel I'm looking forward too alot. But as said, alot of sequels that recieve more budget tend to not deliver and just disaapoint. Hope this isnt one of them.

i liked the first part

might like second

Posted by Subey on May-10-2007 15:51:

I thought the first one was really well done up until they got to the army base, then I lost interest as it seemed to devolve into a generic "people behave badly" metaphor.

As for Boyle, I never caught the vibe of Trainspotting, but I did with Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise.

yeah, it's sarcasm. The trailer for Hostel has a caption that reads "from the brilliant minds that brought you Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Cabin Fever, and Kill Bill..."

i liked 28 Days Later quite a bit (randomly watched it on HBO or Showtime a few years ago when i was home sick and was pleasantly surprised), but i won't be going out of my way to see this one.

Posted by RJT on May-10-2007 16:03:

28 Days Later was a bit of a bore for me - I mean, the first half of the movie is essentially just a guy walking around.

Still, this could be a decent mindless movie. Maybe when it hits DVD....
