Oral sex linked to throat cancer

A virus contracted through oral sex is the cause of some throat cancers, say US scientists.

HPV infection was found to be a much stronger risk factor than tobacco or alcohol use, the Johns Hopkins University study of 300 people found.

The New England Journal of Medicine study said the risk was almost nine times higher for people who reported oral sex with more than six partners.

But experts said a larger study was needed to confirm the findings.

HPV infection is the cause of the majority of cervical cancers, and 80% of sexually active women can expect to have an HPV infection at some point in their lives.

Thats fucking stupid. HPV can cause cancer anywhere. It can cause cervical and endometrial cancer in regular sex.

Oral sex does not increase your risk of cancer. Being with partners with HPV increases your risk of ALL cancer. Its not where they come. But who.

Seeing a link?

Oral sex increases the chances of throat cancer just the same way that having multiple sexual partners increases the risk of cervical and endometrial cancer. The more chance there is of exposing a particular region of the body to HPV increases that area's chances of having HPV caused cancer. So have more oral sex = more chance of throat cancer.

You misunderstood my point.

Having any kind of sex with a person with hpv will increase your chances of cancer, if oral then throat, if regular then cervical and endometrial.

But abstraining from oral sex will not decrease your risk of cancer.
if you go and have regualr sex then instead of throat cancer you can possibly contract genital cancers.

The point is not to have sex with someone with hpv. If they're clean, then do as you please.
