Different Forms of Birth Control

Alright ladies *and* gents (yea, it's your responsibility too)...

What do you use for BC?

Horror stories?

Good stories?

Suggestions?

Etc. etc.

Anyone have an opinion on the IUD??? Ladies?

Men... how much do you hate condoms (because I KNOW that will come up)?

Ladies, how much do you hate the pill?

Anyone crazy enough to try the depo-provera *sp?*?

Men, will you be willing to take the pill for men when it is on the market?

Ready? Set!! Go!!

There's a mathetmatical equation that was just published proving beyond a shadow of a doubt what the best form of birth control is:

Best birth control evAr = Put it in her butt.

Obviously I wouldn't know what it's like to have an IUD, but I do know that should the IUD fail, it increases the chance of you having an ectopic pregnancy, which you definitely want to avoid.

I don't like the pill. I don't like what it did to my body, how it made me feel, messing up my body, yes I'll pass on that. I tried the patch but, I didn't like having something stuck to my skin like that.

I gues the most effective one is the pill and probably should stick to it, I just need to find something else that works as well.

with a passion, and i know both ends of the bargain, it's as bad for the receiver as it is for the giver, maybe even worse.

I'm not too keen on taking the male pill, if I'm putting my balls on the line. Plus, condoms ruin the whole sensation, between the male and female. It's like you're having sex with a rubber stick - just doesn't work for most men and ladies.

My one of roommates use that 'vaginal ring' thingy I've seen on TV commercials - don't ask, I just know! My friend Dana uses a strong form of BC pill, because she has Endometriosis. Somehow that relieves the pain, but gets her severely moody, so you may want to stay away from that.

As soon as i turn 21 im getting a vesictomy.

Posted by mezzir on May-11-2007 05:12:

me and the lady are using the nuvaring

its creepy, but effective, and less upkeep than the pill. less weight flux and mood swings too.
yeah, main con is that its creepy, cause you can totally feel it in there

but still, waaaaaay fucking better than condoms
last one i used left a ring around my cock where the base was for like a week. i kinda knew going in it wasn't going to fit well, but i didn't really care at the time

How does that ring work?

I have never heard of it.

Alright... so I will answer my own questions.

What do you use for BC? Extra thin Trojan condoms.

Horror stories? Was on the pill... BECAME a horror story.

Good stories? Hmmm, never got pregnant.

Suggestions? Don't use the pull out.

Etc. etc.

Anyone have an opinion on the IUD??? Ladies? I have been told it is good, so I have an appointment with the OBGYN and am having one put in in about 3 months time.

Men... how much do you hate condoms (because I KNOW that will come up)? I hate condoms... a lot.

Ladies, how much do you hate the pill? So so so so much. I think that it is one of the most awful things created.

Anyone crazy enough to try the depo-provera *sp?*? You have to be out of your flipping tree to do this.

Men, will you be willing to take the pill for men when it is on the market? If you expect women to take the chances with this, but wont try it yourself... well fuck you. Go and wank.

This morning I had a doctors appt. which included the pap etc. While there I asked about the IUD which has intrigued me. I have done quite a bit of research, and have read that it is quite effective, and there is 0 maintainence with little risk = perfect for moi.

So, I asked about it, my doc said it was a good idea... and now I have a prescription and I am on the waiting list to have the procedure done.

DUn Dun dun.

NuvaRing is a different kind of birth control. The comfortable, flexible contraceptive ring that is about two inches in diameter is used to prevent pregnancy. You insert NuvaRing into your vagina just once a month. The muscles in your vaginal wall will keep NuvaRing in place for three weeks. During that time, it will slowly release a low dose of hormones that are needed to prevent pregnancy.

When 21 days are completed, simply remove NuvaRing to allow your body to have its menstrual cycle. After a seven-day break, you will insert a new ring to continue to be protected against pregnancy.
How does it work?

NuvaRing contains two types of hormones, estrogen and progestin (just like the pill), that prevent your ovaries from producing mature eggs. NuvaRing provides benefits similar to oral contraceptives, but without the daily pill-taking routine.

The hormone release is activated by contact with the vagina. The walls of your vagina absorb the hormones and distribute them into your bloodstream. Because of this method of administration you get 99% effectiveness2,3 (when used as directed) with a low dose of hormones.

NuvaRing provides low and steady hormone delivery. This steady, consistent release means NuvaRing has fewer hormonal ups and downs than daily or weekly birth control methods.

Cliff Notes..

Just toss that sumbitch in there once a month

Nope.

Again, it is fucking with hormone levels.

Not my cup o' tea.

the IUD won't?

Posted by Lilith on May-11-2007 06:59:

I hated the pill, it gave me headaches and high blood pressure, about it's only value was a regular and much more mild period cycle, but there's other medications you can get which are far less intrusive to manage that.
At the moment in my current relationship, nil chance of pregnancy so none required.

Posted by bas on May-11-2007 07:20:

I'm pretty sure guys could handle the effects of the pill because we're not little girls. I imagine it would be something like...

-"Oh noes I'm getting a little chubby...meh"

-"what's this? mood swings? it must be because of the pill, I'm certainly not going to get mad at my girlfriend for no reason then throw a fork at her when she tries to calm me down"

Something to that effect.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on May-11-2007 07:20:

I've never been in a relationship where there was danger of me becoming pregnant.
