Where do you find out about new releases/news and things?

I'm wondering - it seems so difficult to stay 'in touch' with the scene - how does everyone get their news fixes regarding all aspects of EDM? I am finding it difficult! Can anyone recommend any websites or anything like that? Thanks all!

Realistically, it's impossible to always be abreast of all things, all the time. Unless you're so passionate about the music that the rest of your life takes a back seat.

I like checking in here at TA, I also check my own forum for updates at www.submerge.in/bulletin but most times, if i'm busy I just pick up on whichever day I check back in.

If there's something earth shattering that I've missed, it's usually still around for me to look up when I'm back... If its not - it probably wasn't that important anyway.

There are a few approaches to achieve a wide knowledge of new shit happening.

1. Online (digital/vinyl) music shops - check them daily/weekly using new releases filter macros

2. Myspace

3. Internet forums like this one that follow genre specific shit

4. Internet forums locally in your area, focusing on anything happening close to you.

5. (to be a groupy and follow a certain number of DJs that do it for you) visit DJ websites, and involve yourself in their regular community.

6. (to be abreast of everything locally happening) see 5, but apply to your local club scene, instead of sitting behind your computer desk.

The news Section on Tracklists.ca tries to be as up to date as possible:

http://www.tracklists.ca/?p=news

It includes an RSS Feed: http://www.tracklists.ca/xml/news.php

We are always looking for people with varied interests in EDM Styles to help out with the news section. If you would like to help out, just PM me!

on a tangent, but is beatport only for purhcase of digital music ??
i mean, can you order vinyl's and singles on cd to have delivered to u ??
additionally, ive seen some artists release cdm/vinyl like normal, but ive noticed web releases.
whats the story with that ??
i think the first noel, dj shah remix, is where i came across this.
i saw it on beatport as a web release, but not on discogs.
confuses me.

Same way I always have; record shops (digital and IRL) and my friends.

These days it's especially rare for me to pay too much attention to what magazines, websites, forums, etc. are promoting, which isn't to say those are worthless avenues, it's just not how I've had the most success.
