I dunno exactly what is you're looking for.
spanish isn't considered a religion
that's not what he said.
Paella?
I can answer if you are more explicit.
You need to be more specific... there are many varieties of Spanish people.
Are you talking about "Santeria"?
If so, I know that offerings made out of food are made to the "saints" or spirits..but here's the skinny in depth:

**Ninja edit : They also sacrifice animals - chickens and goats are a norm

| Originally posted by Moral Hazard That would depend on the spanish person in question.... they aren't a homogenious nation with regard to religion. That said, you're looking at a population that is largely Catholic (thus no meat on Fridays applies) or Muslim (far too many food rules for me to rhyme off). FYI, muslims can eat beef... it needs to be halah (sp?) which is the muslim equivalent to Kosher. You're thinking of Hindus... who can eat beef but generally do not as cows are sacred beings. |

Fish is already considered Halal in Islamic religion, Beef and Chicken has to be slaughtered in a certain way to become Halal. Pork is completely forbidden.
Just got back from 2 weeks in Pakistan and made myself a bacon roll. Too good.
Check out references to saints and whatnot in reference to the original question.
Hahaha when my parents lived in The Netherlands in the 70's they remember, these Moroccans taking some fucking cow up into some shoe box 16th floor flat (apartment) and slashing it's throat in a tiny kitchen doing the old Halal ritual. They thought someone was being murdered.

It's meant to be a good way of doing meat too, with some of the tastiest kinds because of how it's culled/stored but I've never had the chance to try any.
