heard bout this; good luck...been begging promoters to get Jan Jonhston at some place in north jersey
Tsettos played RISE last week and he told me the crowd was very responsive to his set...
I went up last Friday to see Denny as I hadn't seen him in a long time. I wasn't sure what to espect as I know the venue had been doing a different format for years. I was pleasantly surprised at not only the venue, but also at the size and response of the crowd.
It was a really nice night out, so the crowd was a bit late rolling in, and the crowd that was there, was in the outside deck, which is fantastic for this time of year, but at around midnight, it just seemed like the floor just filled up and there were a lot of happy people. I think they were just really happy to be hearing dance music for a change.
Denny did a great job in working that room with more familiar beats in the beginning and then just pounding it after midnight. The venue has a great sound & lighting system and a nice stage for performances. I was so glad to see a venue that size doing something like this. A lot of people are excited for this and I'm really looking forward to this Friday with Jan. I really hope to see some of you guys there. Make sure you come by the booth to say to Jan and myself. See you there.

Close to me, never saw Jan perform in person, so for a 30 min ride, ill hit this up....
Rise is the name they've given the night on Fridays, but its in the main room at Katmandu. See you there.

This is really weird Zack and I were just talking about her the other day. Does she live in nyc??

i hear she's a horrible live vocalist.
Jan lives in Spain. She's in NYC all week shooting a video and since she was going to be here and I was playing that gig, it just worked out.
As far as being bad live; nothing could be further from the truth. Aside from being her friend for many years and having spent the past 5 years working with her in the studio, I can tell you that Jan is a total pro and very picky. Very few performers do what Jan does on stage. She does a 45 minute set and does not stop singing, dancing and interacting with the crowd, and she's actually singing, not lip syncing.
Come and check her out and make your own conclusion.
ME and Manny did her upcoming artist album and she was unreal in the studio..perfect pitch.

don't get me wrong, I love her recorded stuff like Flesh & Calling Your Name. I just happened to have heard mixed reviews about her live singing - but I won't claim anything until I see her live myself
