If you've never played the first two, why would you buy this? Why not rent to try it. Also, if you know nothing of it, why do you believe the hype? Most of it comes from ppl that thought the first two were the best thing since sliced bread.

PS. they were.

Got nothing better to do haha. I have played Halo 2 and stuff...not the entire game, but played it here and there and found it fun..but never owned the original xbox, so that might be why.

If there's one thing I've never been able to enjoy, it's FPS on consoles. Mouse is the only way to go - such a superior aiming device.

Oh, and another thing I've never been able to enjoy is counterstrike.

lol! battlefield then?

Yah, Battlefield is fun. But my style is more along the lines of UT/Quake. Pure adrenaline fun.

i think the hype created on halo is the reason why it became so popular. the gameplay is so crappy and childish

You're on crack.

He's right though - I can't think of anything that makes Halo stand out from the other FPSs.

Looking forward to it! I'll try to get an advance copy from Bungie, since I and my colleague share their direct account at work.

I'd hate to get another warning from my ISP for my xbox torrents.

I felt the same for the longest time, then i got an xbox and i got useto it pretty fast even for online play i just crank the sensetivity as high as it'll go and it's not too bad ... but yeah mouse and keyboard own!

Its all about the W A S D keys!

Posted by Porky on May-16-2007 19:29:

the gsme definitely became less fun when cheaters online started using a modified xbox controller (with mouse) to accurately snipe you with crappy weapons (battle rifle) which is when i stopped playing

lol pretty much. another text book example of marketing at work.

Halo is an average FPS. Very flashy, with very little substance.

Common guys, Halo was never about the best game play, and it was not even about hype or marketing. It was about opportunity.

If you have a great game, like CS, but only available for computer, you have already sectioned off your market.

Halo was popular for the same reason Golden Eye got popular (sort of), it was easy, fun and available for a console. I know that more people have PCs than Xboxs, and I know that 007 was popular for more than just being on a console.

My point is, it gave a whole new generation, and market the ability to play a multiplayer FPS with decent graphics, a decent plot, and easy controls.

Now we have a tonne of FPS', and Halo is not special anymore, but it has built its base and is going to continue to do well because they have done a good job of creating an online world for these gamers.

I don't like FPS', but I can appreciate when somebody exploits a market, and M$ has done so, very well.
