may/june minimalish techno set

finally done the techno set I've been threatening to do for months. Yet again I set out with intention to play as little gui boratto as possible, and yet again there's none in here I may do a gui boratto appreciation mix to make up for it
80 minutes 15 seconds

1) Pan Pot - Wake Up
nice little opener, doesn't do much, but massive potential for bootlegging, percs on it are insane

2) ID
no idea what this is, was on a CD I somehow managed to acquire after a party at the weekend. Cracking little bootlegging techno bit.

3) Mark Henning - Ring of Fire
top notch stuff from henning. is he married to magda?

4) Jack Rock - Polyfemos (Minilogue remix)
very different from minilogue, nice groove

5) Jetone - The Ballad of Jetone (Damian Schwartz recook)
i love this, the perc's incredible and it fits so fucking well with....

6) Random Play - Just Like That
I know this was on a recent mix of mine, but I don't care, it goes so fucking well with ballad of jetone, they were made to be together

7) Deetron - Life Soundtrack (Radioslave mix)
Radioslave is quite clearly the fucking don at the minute, this is no exception, cracking spoken vocal on this as well

8) Robert Hood - Ride
if you don't know what this is, you're an idiot, and you need to find out. it pains me to have to slow it down though

9) Samuel L Session - Can you Relate?
monster. and I can relate

10) Robert Hood - Still Hear (Los Hermanos mix)
this kicks my face clean off, proper techno from rolando and chums

11) Luka and Lazo - Dust No.4 (Barem mix)
this is awesome, christian smith played it at the weekend and i had to have it

12) Kupon - Zoom in
been hearing it out for ages, finally found out what it was, and fucking played it

13) Joris Voorn - Decay
class

14) Audion - Noiser
after having your face re-attached, this melts it. fucking amazing

15) Damian Schwartz - Cuatro Track (Tadeo mix)
not much to say about this one, great groove, love hearing it out

16) Marco Carola - Pellegio
good stuff from carola, nice little tool

17) Shlomi Aber - Freakside (Acid mix)
this is fucking incredible, amazing tune, been hearing it out for ages and finally know what it is. this has made me happy

18) Marcus Intalex - Red 7 (John Tejada mix)
I've been waiting for a non DnB mix of this for fucking ages, and I'm so glad it's Tejada. Sheer.fucking.class.

19) Nathan Fake - Outhouse (Valentino Kanzyani mix)
I hated this, possibly more than the umek and nastic mixes. In recent weeks it has grown on me, incredibly, and when you hear how well it goes into liebe ist, you'll understand why I played it

20) Stephen Bodzin - Liebe ist
sounds well like outhouse

21) Slam - Lie to me (Dave Clarke's Bassapella)
Whether this fits or ruins the ending of the mix I don't know, and frankly I don't care. Amazing track, much better without a beat, been trying to fit it into a set for ages, but finding two records to go either side to do it justice is virtually impossible.

there'll be a megaupload link as well at some point
enjoy

I loved your last set, so I have high hopes.

Hey there,

I was listening to this set earlier last night and have to say its such a sick set! The programming is great, I really enjoy he track selection. To be honest I'm really just starting to gain appreciation for the minimal sound and was hoping for something exactly like this. The overall feeling and energy while sublime is a far cry from monotonous and I was groovin the entire time i listened to it...defiantely going on my ipod. The mixing is fine, no phrasing or harmonic issues, so in regards to technical skills the mix is equally matched to its creative aspect.

I have to voice once again, that your mix is exactly what I was looking for, and it has quenched my thirst for a good minimal techno set.

Cheers!

-Andrew

I really didn't like the last track at all (as you might have predicted). But the rest of the set really made up for it. Good stuff!

this is the problem with techno right now. everyone copying everyone else's sound. It all started to go down when everything sounded like M_nus or James Holden.

ich liebe liebe ist

although i would say it has a far more interesting "thing" to it than outhouse, regardless of the slight similarity.

you obviously aren't looking hard enough. The only real similarity between the two is the lead

link is down
is this really minimal? like a few beeps and stuff every now and again? any chance you can recommend some non-minimal techno?

It's not techno if it doesn't have the Jeff Mills approval on it.

You say you play Techno, then you should get your hands on some DWA or underground resistance records.

7) Deetron - Life Soundtrack (Radioslave mix)

this is the track that gets you a listen from me
its so good that i overlooked the kupon track to be fair.
alot of quality material in this.
I'll listen and get give my thoughts

and fyi the majority of your tracklist is nor techno,or minimal but tech house. Don't listen to the genre labels when you purchase a track. 90% of what people are calling techno or minimal these days really isnt even close to being that. God bless marketting strategies
go back to the 90's and find some tech and minimal...you will see

Posted by Freesoup on Jun-22-2007 13:30:

Leib ist and outhouse are not techno records, so not sure what your getting at? An since when was holden techno? The only real thing is that Bodzin & Schumachers tracks are all beginning to sound the same, esspecially with the elektrochemie guisse - as great as some of them are, its pretty boring. Leib ist is wicked though as is his new one Callisto. Quite funny how trancey it is.
Anyway..

Downloading this now...
