[Melodic Trance] Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (Starburst 2007 Remix) [320 kbps Preview]
Hey guys, been working on a number of different projects and thought I'd put up a copy of a remix of a classic I've been working on. I am aware that the compression levels are a bit off making it sound like a tyas remix but if you can give me any other pointers, I'd be greatly appreciative

Thanks

Nice driving kick, and I really like the feeling in it! I enjoyed
good job!
Takere!

Very high energy. Love the melodies.
I haven't actually heard the original, but this does sound quite good.
pretty cool, i like!
Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate the feedback
I'll finish it off and add a few atmostpheric elements to give it more air.
Thanks
I'm not a fan of your lead. It's too squeaky and doesn't have enough warmth. It's also a bit too quiet.
I have to say I absolutely HATE that bit at 2:46 where it squeaks. It's absolutely dreadful, sorry mate
Later when you increase the unison on it (or whatever you did to fatten it up) the sound is still bad. Needs alot of work.
I mean it's got energy in it and there's definitely potential for a good remix but I just can't get past the lead. Truly bad.
Thanks for the feedback Fledz, appreciate it whether it good or bad.
Yeah, the lead was something I'm still trying to sort, I'd spend a day shifting through sample after sample trying to find the right sound and haven't really found it yet.
I was trying to go for a melodic trance and to be honest it sounds more like a hard trancer, which wasn't really my aim and the lead kinda contributes to that genre.
Thanks
Paul
Yea it all depends on personal preference. As you can see other people liked it so you can't please everyone
I would seriously work on that drawn out bit at 2:46 though. I hurts my ears lol
Yeah, i made that bit specially for you Fledz
Yeah, I'd heard something in a tune before and thought I'd try to incorporate that into the tune. Oh yeah, I'd also discovered pitch bend that day as well
It's not the pitch bend that's the problem though, just the synth used.
Cheers for the feedback
Paul
lol how kind of you
The best thing to do when trying to get the right sound is take a few days off. You get sick of trying to get something you like and then everything sounds bad.
Take a break from this for a couple of days and then jump back in. It will be a much easier and less stressful process
So true, I've just came from home this weekend and everything is sounding a bit sweeter again.
Cheers for the advice
definatly tons of energy
the bass is awesome man
1:30 I like this a lot
1:55, im pretty satisfied, but that chord progression needs another chord to it, it just feels unsetteling. I think i know what you where trying to do, but i think if you tried messing around with an added chord there, you might find something very fulfilling.
2:48, yeah dont like the squeek there
3:00, that sounds great
3:27, yeah that unison or freqencey change is not good
3:50: frowning
4:10 i like the base line, and the build here, but the synth yeah... where did it go?
I personally liked the frequency change in the lead. It reminds me of hardstyle with something unique punching in there. It's aggressive...
I like the track alot, but I think you could work on pads more to fill in those little holes. Otherwise, this is awesome.
Lots of drive in this track, but the melody is weak. Needs to be louder and use maybe a different synth.
Thanks for the critique guys, i really appreciate and should help me to develop this one more. I'll take a break from this one for a wee while, as I work on a different project of my own, but I'll definetly come back to it when I have some fresh ideas in a few weeks.
Thanks
Hmmm...
Yes the squeek definately a track killer unfortunately, probably not the idea but the sounds you used.
The kick for me could perhaps have a richer sound, at the moment it's very clicky and sounds a bit wooden in my ears, althouogh that could be my headphones.
The first bass synth that your bring in sounds a little dry, it sits nicely in the mix in terms of frequency but sounds out of place.
I also feel that the lead could be less squeeky, but I will say that finding the right lead for this track is hard as I have myself tried to remix this only to drop it for that reason.
Nice use of piano, adds something new to listen to, but I would perhaps look at some of the lower octaves of the piano as on one or two occasions it made me raise my eyebrows... not because it's wrong but perhaps it's not what I expected. Doesn't mean it's a bad thing though.
Once the track resumes I have to say that I'm a little disapointed though, it just sounds a little too German Euro trance for me. Perhaps not enough layers. I know the original isn't that complicated in terms of production at least at first glance but perhaps it just feels a little over simplified.
The way the track ends is poor in my humble opinion. Need a bit more drama in my book.
I take my hat off to you though, as this is a classic piece of trance and all things considered from a technical perspective I think y ou have done a good job. Most of my gripes are with the artistic side to be fair.
Not to mention that I am so veeeery familiar with the Pulser Remix that you are really up against it with me. This is probably one of the tracks that defined me as a trance DJ and one of my all time favourites. First time I heard it was Amnesia in Ibiza...
Cheers
Nem
Nice intro, good kick and bassline. The track sounds kind of dry, I agree that it could use more atmospheric elements like pads, delays and reverb. The main lead is cool, love the piano.
Keep working on it, it has potential to be really awesome.
I love this song, and I made a remix of this myself once.. Failed horribly.
There is a lack of sense of space here.. I would love some delay, and more reverb in here. The bass is nice, but for some reason I'm not quite feeling the kick. Matter of taste, that!
How you go about making a lead sound is very personal, but I think there are several ways of beefing up that patch. Have you tried some chorus on it? Adding another osc, playing at 1 octave lower. Maybe strap on some tube simulators on it. Personally I really like the sound of psp vintage warmer.
And the kick solo outtro is probably unnecessary ?

Thanks for all your help and feedback boys and gals
I'll get right on it and do a major revamp.
Paul
