As much as i would lurve to see one+one it is going to be sooo hot and sweaty and packed, long lines for the rooms, for drinks and for toilets - was definitely not enjoyable in past events, so not planning to endure it this time round.
I wonder who the third guest is tho?

From the get go the boyz went hard and dark, dark house, dark electro, dark tech. More like CD2 of One+One. Not really my thing, though Faxing Berlin made my night. There was a track that JZ dropped midway through his 1am-2am set. Had a vocal and it was very atmospheric/trancey. Need to find out what it was because it's sweet as.
I left at 2am because getting rammed inside Laundry was just too much for me by then.
Nic usually is the quieter one out of the two, so it's no surprise that JZ stole the show. It's his hair, and that wookie t-shirt - just can't be beaten. His scratching, looping and FX were off the hook! Lots of energy from both DJ's (especially Zabs), it's so great to see the DJs absolutely loving it.
Wonder if they dropped Human or Rover... hmm...
Anyone going to WLS are in for a treat, I think out in a festival vibe (where it's not a friggen oven) it'll be much more enjoyable. Rumour has it they might be performing at the WLS after party #2 also.
Oh and that Rod Stewart look-a-like standing behind me...

There is talk of an after party in Melbourne.
I like the second CD better (after changing my mind several times) so I am sure it will be right up my alley

The first portion of his set was a little too electro housey for me, but bout 25 minutes in he started moving back towards tech house, and then the last 20 minutes was just absolutely thumping, loopy techno, and it was bloody awesome! Really enjoyed his take on the techno sound...tough and loopy, but with lots of funk to it. That second last track with the old hip-hop styled horn stab was just purely awesome. I must know what it is! Anyone? And finishing with Juergens - Love It Personally I felt his effects use was the best it's probably ever been. There was a period a couple of years ago where it seemed like he would just fuck with tracks way way way too much, and it'd reach point where you'd think "yeah that's a cool trick, but the track didn't necessarily need it", whereas these days he's much more restrained, and has started using them to enhance and work with tracks, rather than just for the sake of looking tricky. The feedback looping was more subtly used during mixes, and he was triggering less samples as well, which I thought was great as it gave his tracks more room to do their thing. Plus the rolls on the DJM-800 where he'd bring them over the track and back out without totally stopping the track playing were a massive head fuck (in a good way). One+One: Loved the opening 20 minutes with the banging prog, especially that reworking of Booka Shade - In White Rooms. There was a period of maybe half an hour where it was again a bit too electro housey for my personal tastes, though there was one track in there which sounded like a Solid Groove or Switch track which was just absolutely ballsy! I thought the one hour mark signalled the point where the set became outstanding (or at least for my tastes). The Stanton Warriors mix of Who's Afraid of Detroit signalled them going deeper, and Andy Page & Phil K - Don't Die, Don't Kill Anyone and M.A.N.D.Y.'s remix of Push Push, Human, and No Pressure were serious highlights for mine. While I thought portions of their mix CD seemed to lack flow, I found that live they managed to create a smoother progression to their set, and even though there were plenty of styles covered, in the jumps in genre seemed to translate much better to a live environment than a CD. Oh and all the subtle tweaking those two were doing was just ridiculous. I think every single track was messed with some how. Incredible. And to those saying they thought Zabs was doing more, I think it was that moreso Nic was doing a lot of subtle tweaking and looping while Zabs would mix, and then vice versa. I think it says a lot about how well people gel when it's hard to tell who's doing what, unless it's something really obvious like a scratching session or something.
