Smiley DJ Thoughts on this years WEMF line-up

What's everyone's thought of the line-up this year??
Personally, I think it's stinks!

Where are the trance headliners??? Adam Sheridan?? Preach??
What happened to the days of Paul Oakenfold, Johan Gielen, JOOF, Cor Fijnemann, Lost Witness, Pulser, Lange, Orkidea, Nostrum, Jon the Dentist etc etc...

I'm really really dissappointed with the trance line-up and for the first time in 7 years I will NOT be going. MSTRKRFT, WEMF headliner?? *shakes head*. All due respect, the guys are really good... but nowhere close to the class of DJ's WEMF used to bring. I still hope everyone will have fun (without a doubt I'm still sure)

I will however say that the D n'B line-up looks

what's wrong with this http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...9&forumid=77&s= thread?

There were some grammatical errors in it.

Line up looks like total shit to me but partying with close peeps more than makes up for it.

As I've never been to a WEMF, I can't judge, but it definetly sounds like the experience isn't so much the headliners but the people around you.

That being said, I hope people enjoy each other's company this year

i personally never liked the line ups at wemf. it was only 1 or 2 trance djs if that. i think wemf is more about showcasing other genres of edm and catering to other peoples tastes. cuz usually its wat, house and trance in this city. not a lot of dbb and other stuff goes down in toronto. but wemf brings wat a lot of people dont see usually, which is a big plus.

and hanging out and camping with a group of friends is unbeatable.

MINDBLOWING LINEUP!

Posted by chinamon on May-20-2007 09:00:

i think mstrkrft is a great booking

Posted by Turntabulls on May-20-2007 13:02:

the house stage has some great bookings. MSTRKRFT, Glaude, Hatiras, & Jelo are great reasons alone to go.. but WEMF is getting old..

hahah Anyways.

I think the lineup could probably use even a medium range Trance DJ to satisfy the uber nerds but overall it's one of the most creative lineups I've seen in years.

MSTRKFT is a brilliant booking, and will pay off for them (imo).

It's really strange not seeing any of the "Guv" dj's on a flyer, and I can't help but think adding a someone like a "Carlo Lio" to the bill could have cemented toronto's reg clubbing crowd. (rather than 95% raver clientele)

I realize it's really easy for me to sit back and criticize, but I also feel like a Tribal DJ could have pulled in some punters. (Peter Bailey, or someone like that)

my two cents...

Posted by StereoPrincess on May-20-2007 15:17:

lol. cuz you go to WEMF for the music.

Posted by Engine9 on May-20-2007 19:10:

line up sucks, I would only go to see PENDULUM!!

Posted by Flec on May-20-2007 20:37:

for a party of supposedly international status running into its 10th year, this lineup is total gargbage.

wow i dont even know how to finish this post... so dissapointed in you destiny

maybe ur thinking too close minded they probably wanted to focus this year's 4/4 stage with house and techno mostly? wtf is wrong with that? nothing! its still a good lineup and when they brought oakenfold in 2000 he didnt even play his set hence why they dont bother booking big name dj's like tiesto, avb, etc

Posted by m2j on May-21-2007 00:06:

although i agree the Trance line up is lacking, overall the line-up this year looks pretty good imo.

better than the past few I remember at least.

That's not why they don't book big dj's at all dude! Just because Oakie didn't play his set?? That's the most ridculous thing ever. It's the fact that they really want to bring as many dj's to this as possible, so they don't have the budget to bring people like Tiesto, avb, pvd, etc... and I'm not complaining that they don't bring those big names.. it's the fact that there are barely any trance names at all!!!

ps. Actually, Oakie did play in '00, but later cause his flight was delayed.

i just wondered...

for a WORLD electronic music festival... i would expect the line up to be similar to that of Global Gathering or Dancevalley or WMC ..u get the point...

the festival sure does not live up to its name...

We are not in the EU or the UK or even the USA. If you have looked back on previous years of this party, there has never been any sort of lineup like you would get at any of the events you listed.

I think it is a great lineup and I think that it is good to have some variety.

oh the line up is pretty good in my opinion as well... i am looking forward to attending...but just saying...calling it the WORLD festival kinda seems too big for the event..

I originally thought the same thing Jon but come to think of it I doubt the glam clubbers you see in Chinamon's pictures would be caught dead at a 3 day event with the "rustic" appeal of WEMF.

Bottom line is that there are threads like this complaining every year... there were threads complaining about Oakenfold being booked in 2000 and subsequently complaining about his set which was actually really good. All people do is bitch either way.

Truth is, you go to WEMF to have a good time with friends and half the time you don't know who is playing anyways. One year somebody came up to me after my set and asked if I was J00F, half the people don't have a clue either way. It's about the experience as much as it is the lineup... most of the djs suggested in this thread are 60 and haven't done much in the last 5 years.

ahhh touche

and Dennis, for me, it USED to be all about the experience. I still encourage EVERYONE TO GO TO WEMF!!!! It's without a doubt one of the best experiences anyone will ever have. Personally, CHANGED MY LIFE!! That being said, the same experience 7 years later just doesn't cut it anymore, and after that long, if there's 1 thing that people can complain about, is the line-up!, not the experience.
